We Saw Over 10 Minutes of Deadpool and Wolverine

There’s exactly one Marvel Studios film hitting theaters this year, but it’s one of the biggest yet. Deadpool and Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26th and not only will it be the first MCU film for Ryan Reynolds’ wisecracking murderer, but also the MCU debut of Wolverineplayed by Hugh Jackman.

That alone has already excited the fans and the number of people who watched The first trailer proved it again. To continue the fun, Disney debuted new footage at CinemaCon 2024, and here’s what happened.

Wade Wilson grabs a staple gun, uses it to put on his wig and says, “Now let’s sell some certified used cars, motherfucker.” Smash cut shows Wade in the back seat of a car with a family on a test drive. They ask him some questions, but he continues to curse and mentions that he doesn’t have children because he doesn’t have much vaginal sex. He’s bad at it.

Peter (Rob Delaney) apparently works there too and they talk in the dressing room about how Wade is a bad salesman but can always become a superhero. Wade declares that he’s done for good. That’s the life he wants, and if you “aim for the middle, you’ll never miss anything.” Peter shows him that he has an old Deadpool suit in his locker anyway.

Wade and Peter are riding their bikes home from work and Wade notices someone taking photos of them. The conversation continues about wanting to be superheroes again, and Peter asks Wade if he’s just sad because it’s his birthday. He also mentions a very interesting piercing he just got.

Yes, it’s Wade’s birthday. He goes to his apartment and there is a surprise party. There are all his friends from the first two films: Negasonic, Colossus, Dopinder, Blind Al and others. Wade walks across the room and catches up with everyone. A highlight of this is Wade and Al throwing a lot of insults. She asks him if he wants to do cocaine and he says that’s the only thing Kevin Feige said was off the table. She lists a number of different fake names and he says Feige knows them all. Finally she says, “Do you want to build a snowman?” He then says, “Yes, but I can’t.”

Vanessa is there too and they are no longer together. However, she is seeing someone from work and Wade is happy for her even though he is not seeing anyone.

The group sings “Happy Birthday” and then Wade gives a heartfelt speech about how much he loves everyone in this room. He says that despite some difficult years, he’s really happy about it now. Then he blows out the candles… and the second he does that, there’s a knock on the door.

You saw some of this in the trailer. It’s the TVA. Wade assumes it’s a group of men there to have sex with him and is very concerned about what they should do with all of his holes. Then they get fed up, knock him out and put him through one of those TVA doors.

At the TVA, Mr. Paradox (Matthew McFayden) tells Wade about a) he soiled himself and b) what the TVA is doing. “That’s a lot of exposition for a threequel,” Wade says. Mr. Paradox tells him that he knows Wade misused the timeline before with Cable’s time travel device, but that’s not why he’s there.

Apparently Wade was chosen for a higher purpose. One that even the TVA is unclear about. He must save the sacred timeline from a grisly fate at some point in the future. The two boys joke that it needs to be “avenged.” That they will be “amazed” by how “cinematic” it is. Wade says he wants it all, cameos, variants, the works.

They turn to the screen and it shows Steve Rogers as Captain America. Wade knows him and salutes the screen. “You are no longer lost,” says Mr. Paradox, “you can be a hero now.” At this point, Wade notices a screen showing Thor holding a dying Deadpool and crying. “Why is Thor crying?” he asks. Wade shouldn’t see this though; This is something that will happen in the distant future.

Wade is all in and says he’ll come back and help. Then he turns to the camera, runs towards it, grabs it, shakes it and says: “Suck it Fox! I’m going to Disneyland!” He also drops the boom mic a little.

“Oh, I need something else,” Wade says. It’s a costume. A TVA tailor makes him a brand new, upgraded Deadpool costume, which is put together in a short series of quick edits… including more than a few shots of the tailor grabbing Wade’s crotch.

Wade loves the new costume, even if he has to tell them that the tailor is a predator. He also mentions that his samurai swords are made of adamantium. He jokes that one of the TVA employees is eyeing him and his underwear is getting tighter. The employee picks up the phone to call HR.

This leads to a montage of action scenes, most of which are from the first trailer. Dog pool runs in slow motion. There’s a lot of shooting. Wade in the backseat of a damn car. And finally we see him and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine sitting in a car together.

“What about the suit?” Wade asks. “Do the X-Men make you wear it?” He says he looks like he fights crime for the Los Angeles Rams, but Wolverine isn’t having it. “I’m just trying to bond a little bit,” he says.

Director: Shawn Levy, Deadpool and Wolverine Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman star in the lead roles. It opens on July 26th.
