  • Designer Jeremy Glover has created a futuristic Jeep Wrangler.
  • Even though the sketch was created to promote the Drive for Design competition, it looks pretty good.

When it comes to design, one of the most difficult tasks is reinventing an icon. The challenges are immense, as are the stakes, especially when it comes to something like the Ford Mustang or the Jeep Wrangler.

But Jeep exterior designer Jeremy Glover took up the challenge and recently designed a futuristic Wrangler. Despite its forward-looking appearance, the model is immediately recognizable thanks to the striking seven-slot radiator grille and round headlights.

There are also pronounced front fenders and an updated version of the classic hood. We can also see a sporty front bumper, five-spoke wheels and a modernized body characterized by clean lines and rounded accents.

The resulting sketch is impressive as the model features a softer, more modern aesthetic. Nevertheless, the Wrangler wears an aggressive face and shows an outdoor attitude.

Before you start reading too much into things, Glover created the sketch as part of a promotional effort for the Drive for Design competition, which is coming to a close. In the clip you can see him drawing a floor plan of the vehicle to get the proportions right. He then adds cutting lines before moving on to the striking front section and finishing with a few additional details.

Even though the image is just an interesting sketch, it will undoubtedly catch some Wrangler owners’ attention. However, it’s worth noting that the model recently underwent a facelift, so we shouldn’t expect to see a redesigned Wrangler any time soon.

Instead, the company is focusing on introducing the electric Wagoneer S, which is scheduled to arrive this fall. We can also look forward to a production version of the Recon concept.

Back to the Drive for Design competition: students have less than a day to submit their entries. This year, participants were asked to design their “future dream vehicle for any Stellantis brand in 2040.” This can be anything from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram to the company’s foreign brands.
