The latest third-generation Porsche Panamera is now available to order courtesy of Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), and the updated four-door grand tourer hits the Malaysian market with a starting price of RM1.3 million.
Manufactured in Leipzig, Germany, the 2024 Panamera for Malaysia features a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine that is rated to produce 353 hp and 500 Nm of torque, an increase of 23 hp and 50 Nm respectively compared to the predecessor corresponds. With this equipment, the Panamera 2024 achieves the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 272 km/h.
Its acceleration capabilities are complemented by improved braking equipment, with the use of an electric brake booster aimed at improving pedal feel and braking precision. The 2024 Panamera gets six-piston fixed calipers and 360mm brake discs for the front axle, which are 10mm larger than the predecessor’s units, while the rear brakes remain 330mm discs with four-piston fixed calipers.
The chassis systems of the 2024 Panamera feature a two-chamber, two-valve air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, with the two-valve configuration having separate compression and rebound stages of the damper control, thus offering a larger adjustment range between comfort and sportiness.
This system noticeably absorbs impacts from transverse joints and road breaks while providing better body control in dynamic driving conditions. For even more precise handling, rear-axle steering is optionally available on the Panamera. Standard rolling stock on the 2024 Panamera is a set of 19-inch wheels with tires measuring 265/45 at the front and 295/40 at the rear.
The exterior equipment of the Panamera 2024 also includes matrix LED headlights as standard, which enable targeted lane lighting with more than 32,000 pixels per headlight and have an illumination range of up to 600 m.
Inside, the Panamera features an interior that “offers the ideal balance between digital and analog controls” while also placing essential drive elements along the driver’s axis, according to the carmaker. The gear selector is now located inside the steering wheel, or on the left in right-hand drive vehicles, like the latest Cayenne.
The interfaces consist of a curved 12.6-inch digital instrument display, while infotainment is via a central 12.3-inch touchscreen. New here is an optional 10.9-inch passenger display that can be viewed by the passenger and not the driver so that he is not distracted.
Infotainment and smartphone connectivity in the 2024 Panamera are equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the MyPorsche mobile app for iOS devices allows functions such as air conditioning, seat massage and ambient lighting to be operated via CarPlay or the voice assistant Siri.
With active safety systems, the standard active speed assistant now works together with traffic sign recognition, which, when activated, automatically limits the Panamera to the specified maximum speed.
