Fans often ask Ciara about the prayer that led her to her husband Russell Wilsonand now the latter is sharing details about the power of prayer in their long-lasting marriage.
Speak with beings In an interview published Wednesday, the 35-year-old NFL quarterback recalled the request he made after proposing to the now 38-year-old singer.
“When I asked her to marry me, after she said yes, she said, ‘Before we do that, can we pray? I want to make sure we always keep God at the center,'” he shared. “And I think what our love hopefully conveys is that love is never perfect. But we continue to try to put God first and pray for each other. We have these four beautiful children that we all get to raise.” Day and it is the greatest gift in the world.
In fact, the couple has been revered as “couple goals” since they met in 2015 and said “I do” in a lavish wedding ceremony just over a year later. Wilson opened up Becoming a stepfather to Future during a sit-down interview in February at the I am an athlete Podcast. The NFL star said that when he met Ciara, fell in love and was then introduced to her baby son – who was less than a year old at the time – he knew immediately he had to get involved.
“When I walked in the room and saw little Future – he’s nine months old at the time or whatever – he crawled into my lap and it was like it was my responsibility,” the soccer star shared. “I remember walking that night… and God said to me, ‘The upbringing of this child is your responsibility.’
Although he initially saw it as a potentially daunting task, Wilson said once he realized the responsibility he was taking on, he only became more certain that Ciara was the one for him.
“I find [it was] Scary, just in the sense of – not scary – but it was more of an opportunity. Like, ‘Okay God, this is what I’m supposed to do?’ This is, you know, an intervention to raise a child with C?’ And this and that and I realize that, okay, God, I know she’s the one for me, but I’m going to take on that responsibility too,” he added, even calling it a “gift.”
Last year the singer and actress said Call her dad host Alex Cooper that Wilson already was Campaign for Potential Baby #5.
“He’s a great father,” Ciara said of her husband. “Watching him with all of our kids – it’s one of the sweetest things. It’s one of the sexiest things to be honest. I’m just saying, ladies, when a man jumps in and changes the diaper, and He comes to teacher-parent conferences and says, ‘Ooh!'”
She added: “There’s something about a man turning against that part of them, like he’s a man for you but also a man for your family. There’s no better feeling than knowing that.”
