Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: What Has Changed?

Just a few days ago, the Indian-Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar Motor India launched the Fortuner Leader Edition. This model takes the standard Fortuner 4X2 and gives it some sporty flair. Now, if you are one of the potential Fortuner buyers and want to know what’s new in this Leader Edition, then you’ve come to the right place. Below are all the changes offered with the Fortuner Leader Edition.

Fortuner Leader Edition: Updates

The main differences to the Fortuner Leader Edition lie primarily in the exterior. Unlike the standard Fortuner 4X2, this edition model now gets a two-tone paint job. The top half is black and the bottom half is available in three different colors.

The lower range color list includes Super White, Platinum Pearl White and Silver Metallic. In addition to this two-tone paint finish, the Fortuner Leader Edition also gets glossy black alloy wheels. The standard model has a diamond-cut surface.

Other changes to the Fortuner Leader Edition include additions to the front and rear bumpers. These enhancements will be added to SUVs at authorized dealers. They were designed to give the Fortuner a sportier look.

Next, the Leader Edition also gets a wireless charger and a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). The company also offers a wide range of accessories for the Fortuner, which can be purchased from authorized dealers.

Fortuner Leader Edition powertrain options

As mentioned above, the Fortuner Leader Edition is only available with the 4X2 variant of the SUV. It is powered by the standard 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine.

This proven, reliable engine produces 201 hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The SUV is available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Fortuner total sales to date

Toyota Fortuner Hybrid

In other Toyota Fortuner news, the company announced a major milestone in announcing the launch of the Fortuner Leader Edition. It said that the Fortuner has sold 2,51,000 units since its launch in 2009.

According to the company’s sales data, Toyota sold a total of 3,261 units of the Fortuner last month. In the same month last year, the company achieved sales of 3,108 units. This helped the brand achieve a decent year-on-year growth of 17 percent.

The Toyota Fortuner outshines any of its competitors in India. Currently, the MG Gloster is its biggest competitor in India. In terms of sales, however, it doesn’t even come close.

According to MG’s sales statistics for the month of March, a total of only 131 units of the Gloster were sold. This means that Fortuner sales of 3,261 units are almost 25 times that of Gloster sales.

2024 Ford Endeavor off-road

This speaks volumes about the popularity of this SUV in India. The only worthy competitor to the Fortuner that ever really came close in terms of sales was the Ford Endeavour. Most likely, the new Endeavor will be launched in India.
