Tiva is back!
The official name for NCIS spin-off with Cote de Pablo And Michael Weatherly was revealed.
The legendary TV duo – who play Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo – shared the news on Tuesday via a video posted to Paramount’s official Instagram account.
“This is not a practice! 🚨 NCIS: Tony & Ziva, starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, is coming to #ParamountPlus! 💙,” the caption read.
In the video, de Pablo and Weatherly announce the news via Zoom.
“We have a big announcement to make,” Weatherly said.
“Do we know when we will do it?” asks de Pablo.
Weatherly then reads the question that fans asked. “What’s the name of your new TV series?” he says.
The pair then begins listing possible names.
“Is it NCIS: Europe?” asks Weatherly.
“Nope,” says de Paul.
“NCIS: Trust No Onesays Weatherly.
“No, although this is really good,” exclaims de Pablo before finally revealing the name of the show.
“NCIS: Tony & Ziva“, they both say at the same time.
“It makes it really easy because the fans know exactly what the show is about,” quips de Pablo. “It’s about Tony and Ziva in Europe.”
Weatherly provides a little more information about the filming schedule. “We know we’ll shoot it this summer,” he says.
And de Pablo has great expectations. “I expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe,” she says. “Impossible situations that make our lives very complicated, but somehow something about love.”
Weatherly teases people one last time, asking, “Do you know how Tony is spelled backwards?”
“Yes, not,” replies de Pablo.
The duo say goodbye by telling each other that they will see each other again in Europe.
In February, Paramount+ announced that a spinoff starring the dynamic duo was in the works, with them reprising their roles as Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.
Production on the ten-episode first season is scheduled to begin this year.
An official synopsis for the spin-off states: “After Ziva’s supposed death, Tony left the NCIS team to raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, which led to her completing one final mission with NCIS before being reunited with Tony and her friends.” Since then – and where we find her in the new Paramount+ original series – Tony and Ziva raised her daughter Tali together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally live their unconventional, happy lives.
Weatherly and de Pablo will also serve as executive producers of the series alongside showrunner John McNamara.
“We have been talking about this story for many years, and now, with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready,” Weatherly and de Pablo said in a joint statement. “The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster ride full of love, danger, tears and laughter. We would also like to thank the fans around the world who supported “TIVA”. movement for years. To this day, in grocery stores and on the street, they tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now!
“I’m incredibly excited to dive into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael and explore it from some new perspectives,” added McNamara. “Given that the franchise is a global sensation, I think it’s phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the green light to film in Europe. As for the title of this series, I would tell you what it is Violation of the Espionage Act.”
