Jonny Lomax scored the winning point for St Helens against Huddersfield
Jonny Lomax’s last-minute drop goal took St Helens to the top of the Betfred Super League table and secured a 13-12 victory over Huddersfield Giants.
Tries from former Saints players Kevin Naiqama and Adam Swift, both converted by Jake Connor, gave the Giants the initiative, although Tommy Makinson’s try following an interception brought the hosts back into the game before half-time.
The tense situation continued into the second half, but St Helens came back to level in the 62nd minute when Daryl Clark exploited a gap in the defense and scored a converted try.

Then, with the golden point looming, Lomax stepped up to beat the game-winning one-point timer with just under 30 seconds to play and relegate his team to the Catalans Dragons on points difference.
