IndiaThe last triumph in an ICC Trophy dates back to 2013 MS DhoniThe team won the ICC Champions Trophy in England. Since then, the Indian team has had to wait 11 years for another ICC title, marked by a series of disappointments and missed opportunities. Despite reaching the highlights of major tournaments, including four World Cup semi-finals and two finals, as well as setbacks in the Champions trophy Final 2017 and ongoing World Test Championships (WTC), India’s trophy cabinet remains empty.

Ideal bowling combination for T20 World Cup 2024

In 2023, India almost broke the drought as hosts of the World Cup, but failed in the final against India Australia. As another World Cup approaches, this time in the United States of America (USA) and that West Indies in the form of the T20 Global Showpiece Event, former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu gave some advice Rahul Dravidthe current head coach, on the bowling combination with which India could take part in the upcoming tournament.

Sidhu, Dravid’s former teammate, cautioned against compromising on the composition of the team and urged Dravid to maintain a balance of five specialist bowlers – either two spinners and three pacers or vice versa, regardless of the circumstances – depending on the conditions.

“My immediate advice to Rahul Dravid is that if you want to win this tournament, you simply have five bowlers who specialize in taking wickets. The breakdown of a team’s character arises from the compromise column. Your character takes a hit when you compromise.” Sidhu told Star Sports.

Spin department and pace arsenal

Talking about the spin department, Sidhu made a case for the inclusion of the promising leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi alongside the experienced duo of Ravindra Jadeja And Kuldeep Yadav. As for pacing, he suggested thinking about it Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Mohsin Khan And Mayank Yadavas long as he is fully fit again.

“They have three spinners – Bishnoi, Kuldeep and Jadeja picks himself. And play three fast bowlers. Mayank Yadav moves aside when he is fit. Khaleel Ahmed, Mohsin Khan. And Delhi Capitals have Mukesh Kumar. I feel like the Indian team has so many options that if they take wicket bowlers and don’t compromise, they think this guy can bat a bit and bowl a bit. These little things” concluded the 60-year-old.
