Kailyn Lowry believes it is important for boys to learn about menstruation.
“Teach your sons about periods because we’re on vacation and I got my period out of the blue,” the Teen Mom 2 alum, 32, said in a TikTok video on Saturday, April 6. “Normally I wouldn’t freak out about this, but I have four of my boys alone with me.”
Lowry was in the middle of spring break with her oldest sons: Isaac, 14, whom she shares with her ex Joe RiveraLincoln, 10, who she shares with her ex Javi Moroccanand Lux, 6, and Creed, 3, whom she shares with her ex Chris Lopez.
While Lowry was surprised that her monthly visit arrived unannounced, she admitted that getting her period can be difficult because she suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She said she likes to be open about periods with her sons, just in case it happens to her when she least expects it.
“Luckily they know what to look for if I have a little Aunt Flow emergency,” she explained. “Isaac or Lincoln could go to the store and get something for me.”
The former reality star admitted she doesn’t feel guilty about asking her little ones for help when she’s on her period.
“If we were traveling, I would have no shame in asking my eldest son to examine me,” she explained. “Because sometimes you just don’t know if you’re going to let things leak.”
In addition to her four sons, Lowry and her boyfriend are also mother to 14-month-old son Rio and newborn twins Verse and Valley. Elijah Scott. Although the couple has not revealed the twins’ birth date, they shared in January that their family was complete. That same month, Lowry announced that she had had her fallopian tubes removed.
“I feel finished. I do not regret it. But even if I hadn’t had my fallopian tubes removed and gotten pregnant again, it wouldn’t have … and it wouldn’t have upset me,” she said on an episode of her “Barely Famous” podcast. “But I’m kind of done. We were done. We have already made this decision before.”
The following month, the mother of seven gushed about how wonderful it was to have all her children under one roof.
“All seven of my kids in the same room for the first time,” she said in a February TikTok video while holding one of her newborns.
In the clip, Lincoln agreed with his mother that it feels good to have a “house full of boys,” but noted that he needed time to get used to the “crazy” atmosphere.
“We can wrestle, play basketball and play sports,” he said. “Anything, man.”
