Prince William posted his first message since his wife, Kate MiddletonShe announced her cancer diagnosis.
The Prince of Wales took to Instagram on Wednesday to thank soccer star Rachel Daly for an incredible career in international soccer. Earlier in the day, Daly shockingly announced that she would be withdrawing from international competition, and in response, William, the Football Association’s president-elect, released Daly’s announcement along with a few sweet words dedicated to the athlete.
“Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @lionesses, @racheldaly3,” William wrote. “Many more goals for Villa now! W.”
Villa, Williams’ favorite football team, refers to Daly’s current team, Aston Villa FC of the elite Premier League. Daly, 32, was a versatile star who played numerous positions for the England national team. Daly led England to the 2022 European Championships and appeared in the final against Spain at the Women’s World Cup last year. Spain won 1-0.
The tribute to Daly marks William’s first post since the Princess of Wales made the announcement on March 22 with a diagnosis of cancer. Although she did not reveal the type of cancer, Kate shared that she had been suffering from cancer.preventive chemotherapy” and was “in the early stages of this treatment.”
Royal expert Katie Nicholl spoke to ET in London Last month after the cancer news broke, she said Kate was leaning on her parents – Carole and Michael Middleton – during her cancer diagnosis.
“She has a really close circle of friends and, particularly in Norfolk, really close friends there. But I think the real anchors in her life are her parents,” Nicholl said, “and her brother James… and her sister…” Pippa.
“Although you certainly don’t see them photographed together often, they are more likely to be seen in the background,” she added. “They are absolutely fundamental.”
After Kate’s diagnosis was announced, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said that King Charles III. himself has to do with him his own cancer diagnosisIs “so proud of Catherine for her courage to speak out the way she did.”
Following their time together in hospital, Charles “remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law in recent weeks and both royals” will continue to offer their love and support to the entire family during this difficult time. “
