Jenna Bush Hager says she was once mistaken for Hulk Hogan’s daughter Brooke Hogan during an interaction with a fan.
During a special edition of Spilling the E-Tea with Jenna and Hoda KotbThe 42-year-old media personality and mother of three shared that she was stunned when she attended a soccer game where a fan mistook her for Brooke, 35.
“Well, one time I got mistaken – I was at a Giants game and the person behind me said, ‘You look like the daughter of…’ and I said, ‘Here it comes…'” she said she thought that Person would say their own father, former US President George W. Bush. “‘…Hulk Hogan.'”
She adds: “And it surprised me. I don’t know the name of Hulk Hogan’s daughter, but it surprised me.”
The hilarious revelation came when Today The co-hosts interviewed each other and asked their co-hosts about everything from their favorite guests over the years to their first impressions of the other person.
The special edition of the series is part of Today with Hoda and Jennais the New Orleans celebration of the fifth joint broadcast anniversary.
During their candid sit-down, Hoda, 59, also opened up about her own celebrity doppelganger — or at least someone she’s confused with in public.
“I am often confused with Gayle King,” said the journalist. “It happens all the time – in airports: ‘How’s your best friend, Oprah? How is Stedman? Oh my God, I love your grandchild.’”
Jenna first started the book club Read With Jenna. Today show in March 2019 and was quickly introduced to a larger role with the long-running NBC morning show, being offered the role of Hoda’s fourth-hour co-host just a month later. It was at this time that she took on the role of Hoda’s long-time small screen partner, Kathie Lee Gifford.
Jenna has previously filled in temporarily at the front desk over the years after she was first hired as a staff member for the show in 2009.
At the time of her April 2019 fourth hour appointment with Hoda, Jenna was one month pregnant with her third child, Hal, whom she later gave birth to in August of that year.
As they looked back on how far they’d come in the half-decade they’d worked closely together, the pair fought back tears as they talked about the best moments of their five years together as co-hosts and 15 on the same network.
“I would say the little things are probably the favorite things,” Jenna told Hoda. “The days, sitting, chatting [during] the commercial breaks, the time we just had to really get to know each other.”
“I agree, I agree,” Hoda replied.
Which reminds Hoda of their first few days together on the show, and remembering Jenna breaking the news that they would become deskmates, Hoda said she can imagine the exact reaction and why she knew early on that they would work well together.
“I thought you were super excited – you were a little bit scared, which I liked,” Hoda shared. “The thing I remember most about you from that day – and every day since – is that you are 100 percent yourself. You are 100 percent yourself on day one and you are 100 percent yourself times five years.”
