The Bentley Batur Cabriolet is Another Real Eye-catcher

As Bentley revealed the Batur coupe built as a body In 2022, it was said that the limited-edition model was “the beginning of a design revolution” for the brand, signaling the near end of its era of internal combustion engines. The most powerful version of to date was used the company’s long-standing W12, which has been a crucial part of Bentley’s success over the past two decades. With production of the W12 set to end in just a few months, Bentley has unveiled the new Batur convertible, which it says is “one of the last” cars ever to feature the amazing engine.

Only 16 units of the Batur convertible will be built – two fewer the Batur but four more than the roofless Bacalar – and although Bentley hasn’t said much about it yet, the entire run is probably already sold out. The engine is the same as the Batur, a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine that makes 740 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Bentley doesn’t provide any performance figures, but the Batur convertible features a titanium exhaust system with 3D printed tips.

It’s not performance Really Anyway, the point is the style. While it’s essentially just a convertible version of the Batur, the folding roof features a number of design changes that give it a unique look. The lower character line along the side is not directed upwards, as is the case on the coupe, and the redesigned rear bumper features larger side inlets and a more horizontal design, without the coupe’s black cladding. The trunk lid has a really nice ducktail style spoiler lip with a small center bar reminiscent of the one in the hood. The interior of the Batur convertible is also essentially identical to that of the coupe, meaning it looks like a more upscale version of the Continental GT on which the Batur is based.

Like the coupe, the Batur convertible is strictly a two-seater, and the rear trunk lid features color-matched roll bars (Bentley calls it “Airbridge”) and an overall design reminiscent of the Bacalar runabout. However, unlike the Bacalar, the Batur actually has a convertible top with a fabric top. Bentley says the roof can be raised or lowered in just 19 seconds at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and is designed to provide a quiet cabin thanks to insulation and other “acoustic treatments.” Under the rear tonneau cover is a semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the seats, covered in the same quilted leather as the interior.

The personalization options are essentially limitless – Bentley even says the color choices are “infinite” – and the Batur’s convertible-specific design elements offer customers even more options for customization. You can get your Batur convertible with hand-painted graphics, a “vivid ombre” grille, titanium exterior panels and 3D printed rose gold interior parts. Bentley’s Mulliner division works with experienced goldsmiths in Birmingham’s Jewellry Quarter “to combine new, advanced manufacturing technologies with more traditional materials and finishing techniques”.

For the engineering development car in these photos, which Bentley refers to as Car No. 0, the company chose a two-tone paint finish of Vermillion Gloss with Vermillion Satin. The lower exterior cladding is made of gloss carbon fiber, while the hood line and grille are finished in Gloss Dark Titanium. The grille also features contrasting chevrons ranging from Beluga in the center to Vermillion Gloss on the sides, and the 22-inch wheels have gloss and satin black titanium spokes with Vermillion Gloss inserts.
