It’s time for Polin Bridgerton season 3 and things are getting hot!
A new trailer released Thursday finally gave fans a closer look at the steamy love story between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), also known as the infamous Lady Whistledown.
Bridgerton Season 3 begins with Penelope (Coughlan) giving up her long-time crush on Colin (Newton) after hearing him laugh at the idea of courting her last season. Will Colin be able to regain her friendship as she tries to seriously pursue marriage of her own – and in the process attract the interest of a new member of the Ton, Lord Debling (Sam Phillips)? More importantly, will his husband-hunting lessons open a new door between the lifelong friends?

ET spoke with Coughlan and Newton at a Valentine’s Day celebration in London in February, where they discussed filming some of it Bridgerton’s steamier scenes.
“I feel like the question is always asked: Is it easier to do the intimate scenes or the more romantic scenes with someone you’ve been friends with for four years or someone you just met for a day? “I can say with certainty that it’s easier with someone a friend,” Newton noted. “This kind of support really does exist.”
“It’s scary going into it, but luckily we have a really good relationship so we can talk about it and laugh about it when we need to,” Coughlan agreed. “It made it scary, but much better.”
Coughlan commented on why Penelope and Colin are a perfect couple: “They both feel like the overlooked siblings in their families. So having them finally enter the fortunes is a pretty big change.”
Fans agree, with Coughlan explaining: “I think a lot of people see themselves in these characters because they’re like the two outsiders, people who don’t feel quite right. They feel invisible.”
Bridgerton takes its name and inspiration from Julia Quinn’s romance book series, of which there are eight novels. Each part tells the story of a Bridgerton sibling: Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Benedict (Luke Thompson), Colin (Newton), Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Francesca (Ruby Stokes/Hannah Dodd), Gregory (Will Tilston) and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt).
The first four episodes of Bridgerton Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on May 16th, while the final three episodes of the season will begin streaming on June 13th. In the meantime are the first two seasons now also streaming on Netflix Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
