Beijing 2024: Mazda EZ-6 Launched as Electric Vehicle to Replace Mazda 6 in China – PHEV Also Offered – Paultan.org

The birth of Mazda EZ-6, a new sedan resulting from the collaboration between Mazda and Changan, is intended to replace the Mazda 6 model in China. It is not yet certain whether it will also be marketed in other countries, including for the right-hand drive version.

The EZ-6 shares a platform with the Deepal SL03 (another EV under the Changan sub-brand), but features a unique front and rear design. Its appearance is quite distinctive with a larger grille design and is connected to the LED daytime running lights while the main lights are positioned slightly downwards.

There are vertical parts on the side of the bumper and on the mouthpiece Recording shaped trapezoidal located in apron down. At the rear there are lights and lamp bars that are missing from the SL03, but the curved rear bumper remains.

As for dimensions, the EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height and the wheelbase reaches 2900 mm. This makes it 56 mm longer, 50 mm wider and 35 mm higher than the current Mazda 6 sedan model, also with a 70 mm longer wheelbase.

Inside, the EZ-6 gets a more minimalist dashboard design with a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen above the central air vent. The center console is also simply designed and has a small cup holder and a shelf. While the steering wheel and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster are actually similar to the SL03.

Full specifications have yet to be announced, but the EZ-6 will also be offered with dual power generators like the SL03. Like the SL03, it is fully electric with a rear-mounted electric motor with a choice of 218 hp (215 hp or 160 kW) or 258 hp (255 hp or 190 kW). Both with a maximum torque of 320 Nm. Battery options are either 58.9kWh or 66.8kWh packs, offering a range of 530km to 610km according to CLTC standards.

In addition, it also offers a version Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Equipped with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder in-line petrol engine with a choice of 19 kWh or 28.4 kWh battery and an electric motor with either 218 hp (215 hp or 160 kW) or 238 hp (235 hp or 175 kW) and maximum torque also 320 Nm.

The smaller battery pack offers a range of 135 km in fully electric mode and up to 1,140 km in hybrid mode. While the larger battery only offers 200 km in EV mode or 1,200 km in hybrid mode. Officially, Mazda says this EV model will have a range of around 600 km (likely according to CLTC standards), while the PHEV version is expected to have a range of over 1,000 km.

The EZ-6 is the brand’s third EV model after the MX-30 and CX-30 EV, which were produced in collaboration with Mazda-Changan. Is it interesting enough if it is also marketed in other countries?
