“The Voice” Season 25 Coaches Discuss Their Biggest Rivals in the Top 12

ET’s Ash Crossan spoke to the Season 25 coaches – Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the rapper And Dan + Shay – before the first live show of the season, admitting they were a little relieved not to have to continue making the “stressful” decision to send team members home.

“We feel really strong about our team, but seeing people go home is heartbreaking. Honestly, we weren’t prepared for this when we signed up for this show,” Dan admitted. “At least we don’t have to make the decisions anymore – we don’t have to be the bad guy.”

As a first-time coach – and the show’s first coaching duo – Dan admits he feels “there’s more at stake – not just for our team, but for us too.”

However, he added: “I think it’s cool. It makes you live in the moment a little more.”

“It’s exciting for my artists because I truly believe they all have something special to offer this show and our audience, and I can’t wait for our audience to vote!” he shared. “Hopefully they make some good decisions and hope we show them performances that deserve their vote.”

Chance agreed, saying, “I love the lives…It’s bittersweet, it’s toward the end, but it’s also when you get the most realistic performances and you really see how the artists have grown over the course of the season.”

As for the changes to his coaching strategy on the live shows, Chance said his main concern is maintaining his team’s positive spirit. “I want them to make sure that they have the trust of the people who have legitimately made it through the competition… I think that just the soulful, intentional performances that they do every time are what win them the votes that they do.” need.” .”

As for Reba, she joked that her strategy for the Top 12 is simply “trash talk.”

“I have three wonderful artists,” she shared more truthfully. “They’re prepared, they’ve picked great songs… They’ve picked emotional songs because when I’m in the audience, I want that song to touch my heart.”

“My biggest rival tonight, my biggest rival is always John,” Chance said, but it appears the conflict is one-sided.

“Reba is always, you know, she’s the queen,” John told ET. “She is very loved by everyone, so she will always be the biggest threat.”
