AC Schnitzer Spices up the New BMW 5 Series and I5 Sedans

While we eagerly await the unveiling of BMW’s highly anticipated M5 plug-in hybrid performance flagship, AC Schnitzer has announced its own set of upgrades for the rest of the 5 Series and i5 range, giving the full-size sedan a bit add more spice.

AC Schnitzer’s further developments are currently focused on improving aerodynamics, offering various light alloy rims and optimizing the chassis. In addition, performance improvements for selected gasoline and diesel engines are in development for a future version.

AC Schnitzer launched the program for the BMW 5 Series G60 at the end of last year with different sets of light alloy wheels (designs AC1, AC3 and AC4), which are available in diameters of 19, 20 or 21 inches. Now the sedan gets an extra portion of visual flair with a subtle body kit. This package is compatible with all trims in the 5 Series as long as they are equipped with the M Sport package ex works.

The striking splitter at the front is complemented by matching side skirts, while the rear has double spoilers on both the roof and the trunk. The tuner also added a decorative strip to the rear bumper to protect it from scratches when loading. Additionally, owners have the option to upgrade the interior with aluminum pedals, a footrest, and special covers for the iDrive controller and key holder.

For an even more down-to-earth stance, AC Schnitzer offers the option of lowering springs and spacers. The rear-wheel drive versions (520i, 530i, 520d and 523d) can get 15–20 mm (0.6–0.8 in) closer to the ground, while the versions equipped with BMW’s all-wheel drive system (530i, 520d, 523d xDrive) can be lowered by 25-30 mm (1-1.2 inches). Additionally, the black anodized aluminum standoffs increase the width by 10 mm (0.4 inches) on each side.

Most of the upgrades mentioned above are also available on the all-electric BMW i5 sedan, which is identical to the combustion engine 5 Series. The same applies to the G61 Touring versions of the model, with the exception of the dual rear spoiler limited to the sedan.

If you’re interested in outfitting your BMW with AC Schnitzer parts, the alloy wheels are the most expensive option, which can cost you up to €5,890 ($6,309) depending on the size, finish and variant.

As for the body kit, the splitter costs 1,290 euros (US$1,382), the side skirts costs 840 euros (US$900), the lip spoiler costs 540 euros (US$573) and the roof spoiler costs 490 euros (US$525). . Finally, the lowering springs cost 490 euros (US$525) and the spacers cost 232 euros (US$249).
