Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the team’s most valuable player in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 5th.

As Chennai Super Kings struggled, Ravindra Jadeja was the first to strike on the slow surface and top-scored for the side, helping his team post a fighting total of 167/9. The all-rounder hit 43 runs off 26 balls and his innings was studded with three fours and two sixes.

During his brilliant innings, Ravindra Jadeja was involved in four important partnerships of 26, 21, 28 and 14 runs with Moeen Ali, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur and Tushar Deshpande.

Ravindra Jadeja also put in an equally impressive performance in the second innings, picking up three wickets by giving away just 20 runs. He took huge wickets of Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran and Ashutosh Sharma. Jadeja’s all-round show helped CSK to a 28-run win in the match and the all-rounder was adjudged player of the match for his heroics.

When Jadeja won the Player of the Match award, he broke MS Dhoni’s record and became the CSK player to win the most PoTM awards.

Ravindra Jadeja said after the PoTM win that the pitch in Dharamsala was slow. He said:

“It was a day game so the wicket was slow. It was expected to be slow because it was quite warm.”

Ravindra Jadeja further spoke about his role at CSK and said that his job is to build partnerships after losing early wickets. Ravindra Jadeja said:

“We wanted to build a 30:40 partnership so that we would have a platform at the end. The bowlers bowled well. In the powerplay it always looks like a flat wicket.
