“Colman Domingo Reacts to Lenny Kravitz’s ‘Touching’ TIME 100 Tribute”

Colman Domingo has nothing but love and praise for his friend, Lenny Kravitz, after the rocker penned a touching comment dedicated to the Oscar-nominated actor for the TIME 100 list.

The Rustin star walked the red carpet at the TIME 100 Gala on Thursdaywhich took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, and he spoke to ET’s Rachel Smith about Kravitz’s heartfelt tribute essay.

“You don’t know who’s going to write it for you,” Domingo said of the biography, which is traditionally written for those honored on its annual list of the 100 most influential people of the year. “And that was so touching.”

“We have such a great friendship and brotherhood, and for him to take the time to write those words about me meant the world,” Domingo added.

In his piece for TIMEwrote Kravitz that Domingo “felt like family, like a brother, from the moment I met him,” with such grace, humility and gratitude.”

As it turns out, Domingo celebrates the music icon just as much, telling ET, “I admire him so much.”

“He is such an accomplished artist and a good person, and it was great that he said those words about me,” Domingo shared.

Meanwhile, the acclaimed actor just received his Oscar nomination for his performance in Rustinafter a feverish awards season – was also at the center of rumors he could take on the role of Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“You know what? There are so many rumors out there,” Domingo said, shyly dodging the question in his own way. “[Just] Being in the rumor is nice, you know? Maybe I’ll start again tonight.

Earlier this year, there was speculation that Domingo could take over and replace the villain’s role Jonathan Majors to Disney and Marvel Studios break off contact with the actor after being convicted of assault and harassment in December.

Domingo before addressed the rumors when speaking to ET in January at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards.

Domingo said he didn’t know how true the speculation was since he hadn’t heard anything directly from the studio.

“I don’t know, I always look at what I have to do at the moment… I know there are conversations and discussions and I don’t know how much of it is true,” he admitted at the time. “I don’t even understand that from my team, I can’t say if it’s true or not.”

However, the actor said that it was an honor for him to throw his name into the ring and that it had received a positive response from fans.

“The fans are passionate,” he added. “Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea that you can just say your name and someone will talk about something lovingly and kindly, it’s a beautiful thing.”
