$50,000 Hood? McLaren F1 GTR Parts for Sale | Carscoops

Assuming you don’t have a McLaren GTR, how would you reuse these extremely rare race car parts?

$50,000 hood? McLaren F1 GTR parts are for sale

  • Spare parts of an iconic McLaren F1 GTR race car (Chassis 06R) are now available for purchase.
  • These parts include key parts from the car’s historic third-place finish at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, such as the hood and bumper
  • Other parts, including headlights, radiator and a carbon fiber air intake, are also for sale.

Buying old, new racing car parts is not an interest or need for many people. In this case, though, we’re betting that some wealthy enthusiasts would be willing to snap up some of these parts if the price was tolerable – at least tolerable for someone who owns supercars. That’s because they come from the 06R McLaren F1 GTR chassis.

McLaren F1s alone are not often for sale. The racing version called GTR appears even more rarely. Spare parts for the GTR are even harder to find, but lo and behold, that’s exactly what we found. These parts are sold in the UK through Infinitous and include both new and used parts.

Perhaps most important are the hood and rear bumper of the 06R chassis. Each part is the original part, which is significant because it means they were on the car when it finished third overall at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. That same year, McLaren won its first race at Le Mans, with another F1 GTR taking victory and two others taking four of the top five places in the final result.

Of course, these parts aren’t cheap. The hood costs £40,000.00 (equivalent to about $50,000 at current exchange rates) and the bumper is priced at £20,000.00 ($25,000). Some of the other parts available are a little more manageable in terms of their overall cost, although they are not as noticeable or significant.

These include a pair of headlights, a pair of suspension upper control arms, radiators and even a single lower control arm. These items cost between £4,000 and £5,000 ($5,000 to $6,250). Finally, there’s a £20,000 ($25,000) carbon fiber intake. Like many other parts available, this is a replacement part. The build date and serial number are indicated on the inlet itself.

All of this could be the perfect way to spruce up a one percent garage. If it were up to us, they would get a second life on the track, but it could also be fun to turn them into a coffee table or bar table, or use some of the suspension parts as legs for such a piece of furniture.

If you would like to fill your shop with one of these pieces, you can find out more at Infinitous. How would you use these parts? Let us know in the comments below!
