Isabelle Pain, Managing Director of Netflix France, is Moving to Studiocanal to Take on a New Role in Global Acquisitions & Analytics

Studiocanal has appointed former Netflix France executive Isabelle Pain as head of Global Acquisitions & Analytics in a new position created in response to the company’s international expansion.

Pain will be responsible for the company’s overall film acquisition strategy, overseeing multi-regional acquisitions and ensuring pan-regional acquisitions are aligned.

Pain is based in Paris and reports to Ron Halpern, EVP Global Production & Talent Management.

Studiocanal said Pain will work with all its subsidiaries, as well as with all units of the Canal+ group, its myCANAL platform and its channels in France and abroad.

Studiocanal’s recent high-profile acquisitions have included: Past lives (for Germany, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand), anger of man (Australia, Germany), Saw X (Australia, New Zealand, Germany), Orphan: First kill (Australia, New Zealand, Germany), John Wick (Australia, New Zealand), Parallel mothers, Pain and glory (Germany) and Miraculous ladybug (Poland, Germany).

Studiocanal said the creation of the Head of Global Acquisitions & Analytics was in response to the international expansion of both Studiocanal and the broader Canal+ Group.

“We are excited to have Isabelle Pain as Head of Global Acquisitions & Analytics for Studiocanal’s films,” said Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal.

“The international expansion of Studiocanal, already a leader in Europe, as well as the growth of our theatrical releases in more and more countries require us to further strengthen our film acquisition strategy. With this in mind, Isabelle’s expertise will prove crucial in helping to strengthen the distribution of our content across our regions and beyond.”

Pain comes from Netflix France, where she was responsible for content and strategy starting in 2021. As part of her role, she managed Netflix’s strategy and investments in local content, both films and series, for France.

She previously worked for Amazon Prime Video in Los Angeles from 2015 to 2021 in various roles in the global acquisitions department.

Pain began her career at Gameloft in Paris before moving to the United States in 2010. She worked in the technology industry in San Francisco for five years before moving to Los Angeles to attend UCLA Anderson, where she graduated with an MBA in 2016 with a concentration in entertainment and media.
