Zimbabwe will face Ireland in a three-match T20I from December 7-17, followed by a three-match ODI series. All games will be played in Harare. The first ZIM vs IRE T20I will be played on December 7th.
Ireland will be led by their new T20I captain Paul Stirling while Zimbabwe will be captained by Sikandar Raza. The Zimbabweans recently failed to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup as they were beaten by Uganda in the Africa Region qualifier. Meanwhile, Uganda qualified for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup alongside Namibia after defeating Rwanda in the final round of the qualifying round in Africa.
The team had a difficult time in the last qualifying games. They failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022, ODI World Cup 2023 and now the T20 World Cup 2024. The Zimbabwe team sees the return of Craig Ervine, who was sidelined after the first game of the Africa qualifiers with a groin injury. Sean Williams, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Ryan Burl are the other experienced players in the team.

Ireland is managed by Paul Stirling. He is one of the top run-getters in T20I cricket. He recently took over the position of white-ball captain from Andrew Balbirnie. The Irish have secured qualification for next year’s T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean, a 20-team event. This series is therefore ideal preparation for this.
In 11 T20I matches between the two teams, Ireland have won six games while Zimbabwe have won five. With the African nation playing at home with all the older players available, they should challenge the Irish.
