Dearest Bridgerton Fans immediately noticed a short carriage scene in the season 3 trailer and were excited for the upcoming episodes.

“OMG, we have a carriage on the # 😭 [sic]. Carriage scene confirmed in trailer,” one fan wrote on X on Thursday, April 11, referencing an image of a gold-plated carriage that appeared alongside the show’s official hashtag.

Another posited: “If I see an inch of THAT carriage later in the trailer, my God I apologize in advance but I won’t shut up.”

Bridgerton released its official trailer for season three on Thursday, featuring two brief moments from Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) in a carriage. Within the first seven seconds, the back of Colin’s head can be seen through the rear window of the vehicle. Moments later he is seen changing his shirt in the carriage and walking with his brothers Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Benedict (Luke Thompson).

Bridgerton Season 3 draws inspiration from Romantic Mr. Bridgerton, the fourth book in Julia Quinnis the best-selling Regency romance series starring Colin and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan). The book features a 10-year time jump from the previous stories, with the respective love stories of Daphne, Anthony and Benedict, as Colin returns to London after his travels abroad. In the first chapter, Lady Whistledown even proclaims that Colin is the season’s “main catch” because of his “luck, his face, his form, and his charm.”

Through Romantic Mister BridgertonColin finally meets his partner in long-time friend and admirer Penelope. Once he confesses his feelings, their romance comes to a head in several unexpected places. Chapter 12, for example, takes place in a carriage and documents Colin and Penelope’s first intimate encounter.

After following Penelope into the bin to deliver her latest Whistledown column – and discovering her secret career in the process – Colin offers to walk her home, telling his chauffeur to “take the long way”. After Colin tries to convince Penelope to stop writing the gossip flyer, he condemns her revelation that she is an “ugly duckling” and kisses her passionately as proof.

A kiss turns into more heated antics, interrupted only by the arrival of the carriage at the Featherington home – and leads Colin and Penelope to consider marriage.

So suffice to say, the sight of a carriage in the trailer has fans excited that the steamy moment and subsequent romantic reveal could be available on Netflix.

“I want you all to remember that ‘Romancing Mr. Bridgerton’ is Episode 6, by then the first kiss, the carriage scene and God knows what else happened, maybe even Colin’s confession of love,” wrote one users earlier this month. refers to the episode title, which corresponds to Quinn’s novel.

While Netflix and Shondaland have not confirmed any further details regarding the storylines of Bridgerton During season three, both Coughlan, 37, and Newton, 31, teased that they filmed steamy scenes together.

“It’s spicy. “A lot of what fans expect from the books has made it into the series,” said Coughlan Entertainment tonight at Netflix’s TUDUM festival in June 2023. “Oh my God, there was a day where we had to do a very romantic, beautifully written love scene. And we just laughed our pants off because you just have to look into each other’s eyes and we were like, ‘Oh God.'”

The first half of Bridgerton The third season premieres on Netflix on Thursday, May 16th. The remaining episodes will be released on Thursday, June 13th.
