Tory Burch is preparing for the 2024 Met Gala.
Burch, 57, opened exclusively for Us weekly about what she has in store for the upcoming ball, which will take place on Monday, May 6th. “I’m working on a few dresses for the Met right now,” Burch teased at the TIME100 Gala on Thursday, April 25. “It’s so fun to see it come to life.”
While she was “sworn to secrecy” about who the dress was designed for, Burch hinted that the star was an actor.
She also praised the gala’s theme, which is “Sleeping Beauty: Resurgent Fashion” with the dress code “Garden of Time.” “It’s always so much fun,” the designer told Us. “I think it will be really beautiful and feminine. It’s just a lot of fun. We always have a drink in our apartment beforehand and then leave.”
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s limited-time exhibition features garments from more than 100 years ago designed by Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy and others. The collection will be open to the public from Friday May 10th.
Burch has dressed a number of celebrities for the Met Gala over the years. In 2023, both Emily Ratajkowski and Phoebe Bridgers wore her designs.
For her part, Ratajkowski, 32, stunned in a nude dress with a plunging neckline, low waist and pleated skirt. She carried off the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme perfectly with pearl embellishments and a bow in her hair, some of the late designer’s favorite accessories.
For glamour, the model wore smoky eyeshadow and a nude lip. She accessorized the look even more with diamond earrings and matching rings.
Meanwhile, Bridgers, 29, graced New York’s famous steps in a beaded dress of her own. Her dress featured cutouts on the chest, delicate straps and a breezy train. She paired her ensemble with teardrop pearl earrings and silver hair.
Burch posed with both women at the Met Gala last spring, wearing an elegant floral-embellished dress.
