The Kingman colt Stanage has a fine pedigree as the brother of Group 2 winner Calyx. In the hands of Robert Havlin he represents a great danger.
Course and distance winner Balmacara tries to give weight to the rest of the field. He has the most experience in the race and that could be helpful if he tries to build on his win from last time.

Venetia Williams’ Brave Seasca is eliminated from the class here under Charlie Deutsch. He was lackluster on this course last time, so he needs to bounce back with this climb in the trip, which should be fine.
Fox Pro last recorded an impressive win at Newton Abbot in April last year. He needs to carry on like he did last time and could offer more as he comes back with a mark just 1lb higher.
Tighten our straps could cause an upset if he can show his best form on a ground where he thrives.
5.25 Newcastle – Blindedbythelights meets Bringbackmemories

Iain Jardine’s bringback memories have improved since he switched to all-weather running, winning two of his five starts, including at this course and distance. He wants to keep doing it even though the weights have increased by 4 pounds.
Blindedbythelights is a consistent performer and will look to improve on his last two starts on turf. He is still aiming for his first all-weather success but has 7lb contender Frederick Daly on board.
Charlie Johnston The flea would be entitled to his second place at this course and distance in October. He is one for the shortlist.
