The All-new Swift 2024 Will Be Launched in May, but Maruti is Increasing the Price of the Swift 2023

When automakers release new generations of their popular models, they generally offer reasonable discounts on the current generation models. However, things are different for the country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki. Recently, the brand announced that it has increased the price of the current generation Swift hatchback. This price hike is a bit confusing since the company is set to launch the new Swift on May 9th.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Price Hike

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has increased the price of the Swift by Rs 25,000. This particular increase represents a significant increase for the model. Exactly why Maruti increased the price of the Swift in India is currently unknown. As mentioned above, this surge comes at a strange time.

The company will launch its all-new fourth-generation model on May 9th. When a car manufacturer launches a new generation model, it usually reduces the price of the previous model. This is done to get rid of all old stock before new cars arrive.

Not the first hike this year

For those who may not know, Maruti Suzuki also increased the price of the Swift in January this year. Except for the base LXI and automatic transmission variants, the prices of the Swift were increased by Rs 5,000 at that time.

Currently everything revolves around the upcoming fourth generation Swift. The model has already been sold in Europe and other international markets. In India, the company will launch it on May 9th.

The new model will feature numerous improvements in the exterior design. It gets a brand new front design with a new grille, slimmer LED headlights with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and a new hood.

It also gets new 16-inch alloy wheels and traditional door handles on all four doors. At the rear, the car also gets a set of new C-shaped LED taillights. There will also be a new, more aggressive looking rear bumper.

The biggest highlight of the new Swift will be its brand new engine. It is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. The output should be around 82 hp and 112 Nm of torque.

It will be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. The international models get a CVT transmission; However, the India model will most likely get an AMT gearbox.

Additionally, the Indian model might also miss out on the 12V mild hybrid system offered in international models. An all-grip AWD system will also be offered in the international Swift, which will not be available on the Indian Swift.

The price of the Grand Vitara was also increased

In addition to the Swift, the company has also increased the price of another vehicle. And that vehicle is the Grand Vitara. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki has only increased the price of the Sigma variant of the Swift.

This variant is now Rs 19,000 more expensive than before. Apart from this variant, the prices of other variants have not been increased by Maruti Suzuki.
