Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel keeps his team in play with the ball in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The 47th match of the tournament between the teams will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
After a poor performance with the bat, Delhi Capitals gave it their all with the ball. They came under pressure early on as Sunil Narine and Phil Salt put the bowlers to the cleaners but it was Axar Patel who brought the Delhi Capitals back into the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Axar Patel first removed Sunil Narine and as if that wasn’t enough, he then removed Phil Salt. The all-rounder delivered a magnificent delivery to eliminate the dangerous England batsman who was looking to hit every ball out of the park at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Axar Patel bowled a flat arm ball that curved inwards from length. Phil Salt was beaten for his pace as he tried to cut the ball. The ball hit the off-stump in a flash as the batsman had to make the long trek back to the pavilion.

Phil Salt played a crucial role for his team in the chase. He set the tone for his team and ensured that they started quite well. The keeper-batter ended with an innings of 68 runs off 33 balls. He had a strike rate of over 206 and hit seven fours and five sixes in his innings.
Axar Patel’s attempt went in vain as Delhi Capitals failed to capitalize on the momentum thereafter. Kolkata Knight Riders won the game against their opponents despite losing Rinku Singh early to young pacer Lizaad Williams at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Shreyas Iyer (33*) and Venkatesh Iyer (26*) ended up playing decent hands with the bag. The duo added 57 runs together as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand to register their sixth win of IPL 2024.

Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Phil Salt spoke about his innings with the bat against Delhi Capitals. He praised the team for their comeback after a disappointing defeat. He also spoke about his opening partnerships with Sunil Narine. He explained:
“It’s nice to make a contribution. I had a good run in the home games. It’s nice that we had continuity in the conditions.
