While OREA was pleased to reintroduce the 30-year mortgage amortization for first-time homebuyers on new builds, we strongly believe this measure needs to be extended to all homebuyers and home types. As families look for a great place to settle down, their budget shouldn’t depend on whether they buy a newly built or used home. In the midst of a housing affordability crisis, many Ontario families, not just first-time home buyers, would benefit from easing the 30-year amortization of their mortgages.
