2024 Honda City Hatchback Facelift Debuts in Malaysia – New Petrol RS, Sensing on All 5 Variants, from RM86,000 – Paultan.org

Honda Malaysia has officially launched the facelifted Honda City Hatchback in the country, with the refreshed five-door model making its local debut this morning. As with the pre-facelift, the B-segment model is offered here in five variants, although with a variant change for one of the models in the range.

The model range still consists of four petrol engines, with a hybrid at the top. The petrol variants start with the 1.5LS, followed by the 1.5LE and the 1.5LV, and the top petrol version is now an RS, with the e:HEV RS Hybrid taking over the position previously occupied by the 1.5L V-Sensing Take leadership.

The five facelift variants of the Honda City Hatchback cost (on the road, without insurance):

  • City Hatchback 1.5LS – 85,900 RM
  • City Hatchback 1.5LE – RM90,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5LV – RM95,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5L RS – 100,900 RM
  • City Hatchback 1.5L e: HEV RS Hybrid – 112,900 RM

As for changes, the facelift includes some minor exterior design revisions and some new equipment, generally in line with that of the updated City sedan that debuted here last August.

Exterior revisions include a slimmer chrome strip on the upper front end and a larger grille with a new mesh insert design. The front bumper has also been revised, with different accents found on both RS and non-RS variants. The RS versions receive a more distinctive fog lamp trim as well as a honeycomb mesh for the lower air intake, which receives additional trim elements that simulate air intakes.

At the rear, non-RS variants now come with a new black valance for the lower fascia, complete with a body-colored fascia strip, while RS variants get a sportier-looking diffuser as well as black side mirror covers and variant-specific emblems to denote it. As for the wheels, the S and E models come with 15-inch alloy wheels and 185/60 profile tires, while the V and both RS versions ride on 16-inch units with 185/55 rubber tires.

Dimensions generally remain unchanged from the pre-facelift. The standard car is 4,350mm long (+1mm) and 1,748mm wide (no change), although at 1,488mm tall it is 18mm taller than the pre-facelift. Due to the variant-specific bumpers, the RS variants are slightly longer at 4,369 mm.

As before, the trunk still offers 289 liters of cargo space with the seats folded up, which is 230 liters less than the sedan. With the rear seats folded down, there is 841 liters of usable space or 1,189 liters of volume up to the roof.

Nothing changes in the powertrains offered. The petrol variants continue to be powered by a 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine that delivers 121 PS (119 hp or 89 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm , with drive via a CVT to the front wheels.

The e:HEV is equipped with the same Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system as before, with an electric motor producing 109 hp (107 hp or 80 kW) and 253 Nm driving the front tires. The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which is charged by a second electric motor connected to a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine running on the Atkinson cycle.

The petrol engine alone produces 98 hp (97 hp or 72 kW) at 5,600 to 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm of torque at 4,500 to 5,000 rpm. Although the engine acts primarily as a generator, it can engage via a clutch. Single-stage E-CVT provides direct drive to the wheels at higher speeds, where this is most efficient.

Aside from a few minor changes, standard equipment has been carried over from the pre-facelift version, which on the base S includes halogen projector auto headlights with LED daytime running lights, cloth seats, a urethane steering wheel/shift knob and paddle shifters, and a 4.2-in -TFT display in the instrument cluster.

Also included are keyless entry, push-button start, auto locking, manual air conditioning, cloth upholstery, a single USB port, a Bluetooth-enabled standard audio head unit, and four speakers.

The E variant also features remote engine start, single-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The E now gets four additional tweeters to bring the speaker count to eight, and there are now two USB Type-C charging ports in place of the previous 12V socket.

The V features full LED headlights and LED fog lights at the front, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and rear air conditioning vents. Aside from the variant-specific exterior features, both RS versions also offer a 7-inch TFT instrument display, sports pedals, a black headliner, red interior accents and stitching, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Both RS variants also come with Honda Connect services, which include automatic collision and alarm detection, speed and geo-fencing alerts, vehicle tracking and emergency calling.

The safety and driver assistance kit has also increased compared to the pre-facelift. All facelift variants of the City Hatchback now come with six airbags (front, side and side airbags) and Honda Sensing as standard.

The latter also presents the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), the Lane Keeping Assistance System (LKAS), the Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), the Automatic High Beam (AHB) and the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Adding a new Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN).

In the RS Hybrid, the integration of an electronic parking brake adds a low-speed follow function (LSF) for the ACC. Elsewhere, the automaker’s LaneWatch side camera system will continue to be offered, available from the V-Class onwards.

Finally, four exterior colors are available for the facelifted City Hatchback: Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic, although the latter is not available for the e:HEV RS. If you keep track, you’ll notice that Crystal Black Pearl is no longer offered on the car.
