Benny Blanco has become the internet’s favorite friend. Since Selena Gomez When the 36-year-old music producer announced that they were dating in December 2023, she was the center of her fans’ attention. Now that they’ve been together for almost a full year, Benny remembers the moment he realized he was “in love” with her Wizards of Waverly Place Star, 31.
“I was the last person to know,” he said WSJ Magazine in an interview published on Thursday, April 25. “It’s crazy how your partner can be sitting right in front of you all the time and you don’t even notice, and then you have this Clueless Moment when you think, ‘Wait, I’m in love.'”
Elsewhere in his interview, Benny talked about his other passion besides music: cooking. In fact, this is one of his and Selena’s favorite things to do, as he mentioned earlier this year.
Selena and Benny had worked together for several years. He was listed as a contributor on their album revival, specifically for their hit song “Same Old Love.” The two also appeared together in Benny’s 2019 music video for “I Can’t Get Enough.” However, neither of them felt any feelings until later in their relationship. They officially started dating in June 2023, but kept their romance a secret for several months.
After Selena and Benny made their relationship public late last year, they gave their fans little glimpses into their life together. They attended the Golden Globe Awards in January 2024 Just murders in the building Star has shared several pictures of her best moments on social media.
Most recently, Selena shared her and Benny’s best PDA-filled moments in an Instagram carousel post in honor of her boyfriend’s birthday. From funny polaroids to tons of kisses, the Rare Beauty founder included as much romantic content as possible in the tribute.
“Happy birthday my dear!” Selena wrote in March. “Your emotional endurance, your positive attitude, your incredible talent (which blew me away), your undeniable humor, and your loving, kind heart absolutely kill me. I love you.”
Although Selena shares some of their relationship with the public, she has been careful to protect her and Benny’s privacy. After she released her latest single “Love On” in February, Apple Music’s Zane Lowe asked about her love life.
“I think it’s just really important to meet someone who respects you,” she explained. “And I think it’s really nice to be able to rely on someone who understands the world in which I live. But overall I have to say it’s the safest feeling I’ve felt and it’s been really nice and I’ve only grown from it, so it’s great.”
