Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond: Jimmy Sheirgill’s Role as Script Approver in Defense Ministry is a Great Watch: Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

The horrific Pulwama attack in 2019 resulted in the death of several CRPF soldiers. It saddened the entire country and also led to rising morale as citizens demanded revenge. This year, two films have already addressed this episode – Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer fighter and Varun Tej-Manushi Chhillar in the lead role Operation Valentine. Ranneeti: Balakot and beyond, which released today on Jio Cinema, also revolves around this attack. However, the web series goes beyond India’s attack and surgical strike in Balakot, Pakistan. The characters are also well drawn and one of them stands out is Kashyap Sinha, played by Jimmy Sheirgill.

Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond: Jimmy Sheirgill’s role as a script approver in the Ministry of Defense is a great watch

We have often seen patriotic characters fail on the field and then either get demoted or suspended. Kashyap Sinha is no exception. After an operation in Serbia fails, he is taken off the field. He was asked to work in the Defense Ministry office in Delhi and approve scripts! This is probably the first time in a film/series that the protagonist does such work.

In the first episode, Kashyap Sinha watches a film where the protagonist is over-the-top in an attack. Kashyap opposes the film on the grounds that officials do not shout like that in real life and that Indian officials attacking a foreign embassy should not be shown on screen. When the director argues that experts have told him that his portrayal is realistic, Kashyap hits back with hard facts. Scenes like these added to the impact of the show.

Since 2020, the Ministry of Defense has clarified that any film or web series that deals with the Army or any other defense wing should be aired only after the makers get a no-objection certificate from the government.

According to an article in The Print, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), along with another department called MI-11, produces films that focus on the army. They ensure that the image of the army is not distorted or misrepresented.

As per the current guidelines, the producer must also first submit an affidavit containing the details of the film, script, production company involved, expected release date, etc. He can also indicate whether he needs equipment from the army. In addition, producers must then sign an agreement with the government, provide a bank guarantee and provide a compensation guarantee. Once the film is completed, producers must submit the final copy to the Ministry of Defense before release. If there are parts that the government deems “unsuitable, undesirable, inappropriate and unwise,” producers must remove them.

After the government is satisfied with the film, an NOC is issued following which the film is approved by the Central Board of Film Certificate.

It’s not just the unique character portrayal, but also the fact that Jimmy Sheirgill shines in the role. The way he got into the skin of his character is incredible. Be it outsmarting the enemies, repelling them with applause-filled dialogues, dealing with his traumas or switching into action mode, the actor has delivered one of the best performances of his career.
