How to transfer iPhone to iPhone

Step 1: Transfer your SIM card from your old iPhone to your new iPhone.

Apple offers a handy video explanation if necessary.

Step 2: Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is turned on.

Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions in the iOS Quick Start to set up your phone.

Step 4: On the Apps & Data screen, choose how you want to transfer your data.

Apple gives you options. If you choose to download iCloud, your data (including apps) will be downloaded and you can use your new iPhone while it runs in the background. If you choose to transfer directly, an additional step is required (see below) and you won’t be able to use your new iPhone until the download is complete.

Step 5: If you’re transferring data directly (not via iCloud), make sure your two iPhones are close to each other and connected to chargers.
