The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show brought a candid revelation from Bollywood star Sunny Deol. During the show, Sunny Deol, along with his brother Bobby Deol, delved into the challenges faced by the Deol family in their quest for a cinematic comeback. Sunny’s emotions flowed as he recounted the arduous journey of bringing her Bridge 2 a film that many initially dismissed as “old cinema” directed by an “old director”.
Sunny Deol recalls the initial rejection of Gadar 2: “People said, ‘This is old cinema, even the director is old.’ Who will see it?’”
It all started when Sunny said: “Many years have passed, a lot has happened. We worked on multiple fronts and did our best. It’s not that we haven’t tried. I was involved in different things, Bobby tried too and Dad did too. But suddenly, with the marriage of my son and the arrival of a daughter in our house, the atmosphere changed completely.”
The 66-year-old actor added: “Dad has been in the film industry since the 1960s. Since then we have been in the spotlight and have seen many things, each of which came and went in its own time. But the way things are happening this time and the kind of love we are getting from the audience has always loved us. Dad gets so much love and that’s why me, Bobby, we all get so much love. But we couldn’t understand why things didn’t fit.”
Explaining the same, Sunny continued, “After my daughter-in-law came, Bridge 2 was released, before that Papas Rocky and Rani Kii Prem Kahani was published. When Bridge 2 When I was released, I couldn’t understand what was happening because inside I was laughing and crying at the same time. It was amazing. Where did God reveal himself? Thereafter, animal was published. All records were broken. All of this is the result of your love.”
Concluding, Sunny said, “We couldn’t get films from the industry that generated enough capital. I remember when I did it Bridge 2People said, ‘This is old cinema, even the director is old.’ Who will see it?’ But you’ve proven that you want to see it.”
In the hit saga of 2023, Dharmendra worked with Shabana Azmi in Karan Johar’s Rocky and Rani Kii Prem Kahani received critical acclaim and set the stage for Sunny Deol’s Bridge 2 making history as the fifth highest grossing Indian film of the year. Bobby Deol’s portrayal of the antagonist in animal contributed even more to the family’s triumph.
