Elizabeth Chambers is ‘protective’ of Her Children After Split from Armie Hammer

Elizabeth Chambers is focused on creating a better future for her children after her divorce Armie Hammer.

In Us weeklyIn the exclusive clip of Elizabeth from the upcoming April 16 episode, Elizabeth, 41, speaks Julian Foster about how she coped with Armie’s public scandal – and how she plans to move forward.

“My sister said it best. She said: “Every day someone taps you on the shoulder and reminds you of the most painful time in your life,” Elizabeth says, referring to one Airmail Article mentioned in the show in which 37-year-old Armie broke his silence about his personal life.

Elizabeth and Armie began dating in 2008 and tied the knot two years later. After a decade of marriage, the couple separated in July 2020 and the divorce was finalized three years later. The actor was later accused of sending graphic text messages to several women about his sexual fantasies, including rape, mutilation and cannibalism.

Armie was also accused of sexual assault, which his lawyers denied at the time. (The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed in June 2023 that it was not pursuing sexual assault charges after a two-year investigation.)

“I am shocked, heartbroken and devastated,” Elizabeth wrote via Instagram in February 2021 about the scandal. “My grief aside, I am listening and will continue to listen and educate myself on these sensitive issues. I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know.”

In the clip, Elizabeth, who has daughter Harper, 9, and son Ford, 7, with Armie, shares that a “supportive inner circle” helped her heal from the drama. She also shares that her focus remains on her children.

“But I also protect my children fiercely and that’s why we’re still here,” she explains to Julian. “You have no idea what’s going on. My children are incredibly happy. They should think that their father is a superhero, and to be honest, he was to them. He was the best he could be.”

Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, which premiered earlier this month, offers a rare glimpse into Elizabeth’s life in the Cayman Islands. The show particularly highlights their efforts to start over and open a new BIRD bakery. Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise also stars Selita Ebanks, Courtney McTaggart, Chelsea Flynn, Craig Jervis, Connor Bunney, Cass Lacelle, JulianAaron Bernardo, Teri Bilewitch, Dillon Claassens, Victoria Coleman and Trevor Coleman.

“It was just the perfect opportunity that I’m very grateful for,” Elizabeth said exclusively Us about the documentary soap. “Because we were here and I opened my own business. And we all know that there is no better place than television or any platform when it comes to business and building brands. So I thought, ‘Why not document it?’ That’s what really intrigued me about the show.”

The entrepreneur said she learned a lot from the experience, adding: “I would say that this is certainly not my reality. This show is not my reality that exists for me in everyday life. My daily routine consists of flying back and forth with my kids and doing my other show. But it was fun.”

Elizabeth continued, “I think the lesson is, ‘Be true to yourself and don’t do or say anything you will regret.’ Of course that’s not necessarily what you see on screen, but ultimately it’s just about knowing yourself, knowing those boundaries and being authentic about it.”

Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on Freeform and is available to stream the next day on Hulu.
