Actress and filmmaker Divya Khossla couldn’t be in a better place. While her upcoming film Heroine Heeroine‘Divya’, produced by Prerna Arora, which portrays her as a Bollywood queen inspired by a real-life actress, is all set to release and has given another surprise to the audience.
Divya Khossla on Savi: A Bloody Housewife: “It is based on the mythological concept of Sati Savitri”
The announcement of the new Mukesh Bhatt-Bhushan Kumar-Krishan Kumar production, Savi: A bloody housewifecame out of the blue.
Speaking about the project for the first time, Divya Khossla, who plays the author-backed title role, said, “We kept it out of the news as long as possible. We were all sworn to secrecy until it was ready for publication. In fact, we only received the title a few days ago. We shot the film in London in complete secrecy.”
So what is it? Savi: A bloody housewife everything about? Divya revealed, “I don’t want to reveal too much of the plot. But I can assure you that you have nothing like that.”
I persuaded her to tell me more and Divya kindly told me: “Savi is based on the Hindu mythological idea of Sati Savitri, who is said to have raised her husband from the dead. We modernized the myth and made it acceptable to today’s audience without manipulating history.”
Divya further revealed that the film celebrates the housewife. “Men and even women tend to take the housewife for granted, if not look down upon her entirely. Our film shows how the housewife anchors the family. Without them, the family would fall apart,” she said.
Anil Kapoor plays a very special role in the film.
“You’ve never seen him like this before. Anilji is such a legendary actor. Having him in our film is a blessing. Harshwardhan Rane plays my husband. Our director is the very talented Abhinay Deo, who has directed very interesting films like Blackmail starring Irrfan Khan in the lead,” says Divya
She admits that she is nervous. “People don’t come to the cinema. But we’re confident they’ll pick up Savi when it opens on May 31st. The content is the hero here. If you liked my previous release Yaariyan, you will love Savi.”
Incidentally, Yaariyan is now streaming on Jio Cinema.
Divya says, “But it comes at a price. People have to pay to watch Yaariyaan on the streaming platform. They initially waited to watch it on OTT. Now they’ll wait until it’s free.”
