Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa talk about TV’s ‘toxic’ work culture: “I have seen so many directors and creative people suffering heart attacks.”

Harsh told Bharti, “I have seen so many directors and creative people getting heart attacks and many other health problems because of not sleeping at all.”You smoke and drink tea all the time. Eating the same food available on set. They suffer from hyperacidity and cannot control it.”

Prachi, who started her career with TV show Kasamh Se, also commented and said that she too drank a lot of coffee on the sets of her show to stay awake. “We weren’t getting enough sleep and we were just standing there having our conversations with straight faces and it looked like, ‘Wow, what an accomplishment,’ but that was just insomnia,” she said. Prachi stated that the television sets back then were not well designed and they had to work for long hours because they were constantly running against the clock.

Bharti claimed to have seen female actors with drops in their arms on set. She explained, “I have seen girls on the sets of daily soaps sitting with a drop in their arm because they couldn’t go home.” Haarsh said that things are very different now as he mentioned that they were on non-fiction shows try to complete filming within shift times, but even if they had to do additional filming it would only add a few hours.

Previously, actresses like Radhika Madan, Juhi Parmar, Vikrant Massey, Karan Kundrra and Charu Asopa have spoken about working on their TV series for days without returning home.
