Kyren Wilson defeated David Gilbert 17:11 to reach the final of the World Snooker Championship

Kyren Wilson reached the final of the World Snooker Championship for the second time after a 17:11 win over David Gilbert and will now face either Jak Jones or Stuart Bingham for the title.

Twelfth seed Wilson, beaten 18-8 by seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in the 2020 final at the Crucible, led Gilbert 14-10 overnight and completed his victory just four frames later.

Gilbert registered a century in the final frame on Friday night to reduce his deficit to four, then reduced it to three with a break of 70 on Saturday afternoon, only for Wilson to reel off three in a row and hit two centuries in the final half.

Gilbert again suffered heartbreak in the semi-finals, having been defeated 17-16 by John Higgins at this point in 2019, and Wilson is now just one win away from the sixth – and by far biggest – ranking title of his career.

In the other semi-final, Jones leads 2015 champions Bingham 13-10 ahead of Saturday’s final session from 7pm.
