This is a big time for Taylor’s career. And between football seasons, this is an important time for Travis.
So why is she pulling punches at the Met Gala instead of performing together? You have very good reasons.

Notably, Taylor and Travis received separate invitations. So it wouldn’t have been like Taylor brought Travis as her plus one.
So they both declined separately. That’s not quite the same as Taylor turning it down for both of them.
Why did Taylor Swift turn down the Met Gala?
No one needs an excuse to decline an invitation, even if the star-studded Met Gala is a charity event. However, Taylor has a good reason.
The 2024 Met Gala takes place on May 6th.
Taylor continues her Eras World Tour on May 9th – the same week. She has to travel to Europe and set everything up in France. Especially because there are rumors that she will have to work into the setlist in a whole new era.
Yes, it looks very plausible. The Tortured Poets Department will be featured in their first series for the first time. And you don’t just slip into new music. The Eras tour is a very precise production.

Why did Travis Kelce turn down the Met Gala?

It would be amazing if a football player trumped a number of supposed fashion icons at a fashion event. Well – maybe at the Met Gala 2025, if Taylor and Travis are still an issue.
