While numerous stars showed off their fabulous looks on the Met Gala 2024 red carpet, one celebrity was noticeably missing: Rihanna! The 36-year-old “Umbrella” singer surprised her fans when she didn’t show up on the red carpet for the fashion event of the year. While many viewers were wondering where RiRi was, it was reported that she was unfortunately ill and couldn’t make it to the Met Gala on Monday, May 6.
A source close to the “Love the Way You Lie” singer revealed in a report from that she was not feeling well People. “Rihanna had to cancel her participation due to coming down with the flu,” the outlet reported. Unfortunately, no one was able to see what the singer had planned for her look this year, but we can all look forward to seeing her make her grand return at next year’s Met Gala.
Rihanna has been a fixture at the Met Gala for several years. Last year, she turned heads when she showed off her baby bump in an all-white dress for the event. Her partner and father of her children A$AP Rocky has competed alongside her in recent years.
During a recent interview with Extra, the “Diamonds” artist teased her “simple” Met Gala look for this year’s event, but unfortunately, fans didn’t get to see what she had planned. While visiting her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation in Los Angeles last month, RiRi said, “I’m actually keeping it simple this year.”
“I think it depends on what my makeup and hair does, so I’ll play with that,” she explained. “I have no idea what I’m going to do with it. … I’m coming for dinner. Greetings Anna Wintour.”
Aside from Met Gala, Rihanna recently opened up about how she feels about being a mother to two boys in a recent interview with Met Gala AND! News. “I can be as casual and fit as I want, but it also forces me to embrace the epic things of being a woman and my full femininity. “I’m much more accepting of wearing pink now,” she told the outlet.
