Village Roadshow Extends First-look Deal with Kevin Garnett’s Content Cartel

Village Roadshow Entertainment Group remains in business with Kevin Garnett.

The company has extended its first-look deal with Garnett’s Content Cartel. With this move, the company joins the partnership between Content Cartel and Bill Maher’s podcast network Club Random Studios to develop films and series from its podcast content.

Village Roadshow closed its first-look deal with NBA legend Garnett in 2021 to develop and produce feature films, scripted and unscripted TV shows and digital content. Garnett co-founded the company with Brian Bennett and Mike Marangu.

The deal has already spawned series including Goliath about Wilt Chamberlain, features like Cinnamon with Pam Grier and Damon Wayans and Murder City starring Mike Colter.

Club Random Studios was founded by Maher, Chris Case and Chuck LaBella to house, finance and develop celebrity-hosted podcasts. The company launched a partnership with Garnett for KG in March Certifiedthe Content Cartel podcast hosted by Garnett, and Ticket and the truthhosted by Garnett and fellow Hall of Famer Paul Pierce

VREG and Content Cartel are working on it Lo Lifes: Stealing the American Dream, about Ralph Lauren’s legendary shoplifting crew that sparked a hip-hop fashion revolution, Rushabout the founding of Nike based on the book by Julie Strasser, and Prince Pius, about a charismatic young Nigerian who comes to America with nothing and starts a smuggling empire.
