Vidya Balan reveals that she is a minimalist and shares that she owns only 25 sarees
Recently Vidya appeared on YouTube talk show. Unfiltered by Samdishand told unheard anecdotes from her professional and private life. During the conversation, when the host asked the actress about her father’s favorite shirt, Vidya said that her father looks great in everything. However, his ‘secured dhoti-kurta’ is Vidya’s favorite and whenever her father wears it, she wants to snuggle up to him.

Furthermore, Samdish asked the actress to reveal a habit of her father that she doesn’t like. On this, Vidya said that she is just like her father and revealed that she likes everything very organized. She continued by saying that she would be thrown off if things weren’t sorted her way. After that, the host asked about the size of her wardrobe and Vidya replied:
“It’s not very big, not huge at all compared to most other women and definitely other actors, but I’m a minimalist, I have to say that. I don’t own too many things.”

After giving Samdish an estimated size of the wardrobe, Vidya added that it wasn’t filled with things. She also shared that people keep asking her about the number of sarees she has as she prefers to wear them. Vidya revealed that she only owns 25 sarees and keeps giving them away as she generally never repeats her sarees. In her words:
“Everyone keeps asking me how many saris you have because I wear a lot of saris. I have 25 saris. I give away sarees all the time because what should I do with the main money, I have no chance of repeating my sarees. So the ones I kept are the ones that have emotional meaning for me.”
When Vidya Balan spoke about being body shamed by producers and directors
Despite being one of the most successful leading actresses in the Indian film industry today, Vidya has been repeatedly shamed by producers and filmmakers. When she recently attended the six-part series of Indian Express, Express, the actress shared that she was asked by producers to lose a few kilos before starting a new film. The actress called this absolutely ridiculous and added:
“Before every film, the producers and directors asked me if I could lose some weight. And I have been struggling with some health challenges for a long time. So it was almost impossible. When the director finally said this to me four to five years ago, I said, “Please, I’m not going to be the body you need me to be.” “You have to go to the body you need me to be.” I find that absolutely ridiculous. Because the part was written for me. So why this insistence? What’s behind this obsession that only thinness is desirable and acceptable?”
