Dharma Productions brings together Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor for a new film titled Tulsi Kumari from Sunny Sanskriti. This is their second collaboration after starring in the 2023 film Bawaal. The project reunites Dhawan with director Shashank Khaitan, with whom he previously delivered the hit film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania And Badrinath’s bride. The official announcement for the film was made in February 2024, and the release date was April 18, 2025.

Filming began on Saturday, May 4, and both Dhawan and Kapoor shared glimpses from the sets on their social media. The energetic atmosphere suggests an entertaining romantic comedy, which is further fueled by the upbeat song.Ishq Manzoor’ plays in the background of Kapoor’s Instagram story. “Day 1: Sincere Gratitude,” the caption read.
Tulsi Kumari from Sunny Sanskriti features an exciting ensemble cast. According to reports, Sanya Malhotra, Akshay Oberoi and Rohit Saraf have joined the project to play key roles. The film promises to be a quintessential entertainer with romance at its core and reminiscent of Khaitan’s earlier directorial ventures.
According to some reports, the film is a perfect fit for Dharma Productions’ signature style – a vibrant tribute to love, infused with music, larger-than-life sets and a stellar cast. A source explained: “The premise of SSKTK is very close to the kind of films Dharma is known for as it celebrates love with color, music, scope and a strong star cast.”
The production is gearing up for a quick shoot with the first schedule starting in Mumbai. Scenic locations in Rajasthan are also on the agenda and there is a chance to explore international filming. Interestingly, the makers want to complete filming by the end of 2024.
Shashank Khaitan’s last directorial appearance was Govinda, my namea Disney+ Hotstar release with another trio – Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani.
While Tulsi Kumari from Sunny Sanskriti keeps him busy, Varun Dhawan has a full year ahead of him. He recently completed his upcoming masala action film Baby JohnDirected by Kalees and produced by Atlee Kumar, the film is slated to hit theaters in 2024. There will be another film directed by his father David Dhawan later this year.
Janhvi Kapoor is no less busy. Her upcoming projects include the pan-India films Devara: Part 1 with Jr. NTR, RC16 with Ram Charan and the period saga Karna with Suriya. She also has Karan Johars Mr and Mrs Mahi and Junglee Pictures’ Ulajh in the pipeline.
