Mumbai Indians And Lucknow Super Giants won their respective matches on Sunday (April 7) in the ongoing IPL 2024 match. While MI defeated Delhi Capitals to register their first win of the season, LSG defeated GT to secure their third consecutive win.
Chasing 164, GT skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan shared a 54-run stand for the first wicket before the former’s dismissal opened the floodgates. Yash Thakur smelled Gill for 19, giving LSG their first breakthrough.
Two runs later, Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Kane Williamson for 1 before Krunal Pandya sent back Sudharsan and Sharath BR in the ninth over to reduce GT to 61 for 4. GT continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and was finally bowled out for 130 runs in the 19th over to lose the game by 33 runs.
Earlier in the game, Marcus Stoinis’ half-century helped LSG recover from 18 for 2 and end their innings with a competitive total of 163/5 after KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first.
LSG had a poor start as they lost two wickets in the powerplay. Umesh Yadav dismissed Quinton de Kock for six runs in the first over before sending back Devdutt Padikkal for seven runs in the third over. This was followed by a 73-run stand between KL Rahul and Stoinis.
Darshan Nalkande broke the stand by dismissing Rahul for 33 in the 13th over. In the 15th over, he dismissed Stoinis for 58. Towards the end, Nicholas Pooran’s unbeaten knock of 32 and Ayush Badoni’s 20-run cameo helped LSG post a total of over 160.
Before the match between LSG and GT, MI defeated DC by 29 runs to hit the mark in IPL 2024. MI was asked to bat first and scored 234/5 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, DC finished their innings on 205.8.

With the win, MI moved up from last place and is currently eighth in the points table. The LSG, however, is in third place with three wins from four games. DC is currently at the bottom of the points table while GT is in seventh place.
