Total War: Warhammer III Patch 5.0 – What to Expect

Total War: Warhammer III’s latest update, Patch 5.0, brings new content and characters to the Old World.

Creative Assembly, the game’s developer, released a preview of the changes and introduced free-to-play campaign characters to pave the way for upcoming paid DLC.

What do we get with Total War: Warhammer III Patch 5.0?

Creative Assembly’s legacy in providing update patches is to reward its loyal Warhammer community with some advanced features. Throughout the Total War series, the game developer has historically employed an insane legendary lord here and a psychedelic new campaign there, and this installment is no different.

Free Legendary Lord: Epidemius

The development team has freed the legendary Lord Epidemius from the Forest of Decay. He is true to his terribly corpulent form as a servant of Nurgle. His role in the Army of Plague and Decay is that of Tallyman of Nurgle, an accountant and recorder of the terrible plagues brought upon the land by the Old God’s smoldering armies.

He is described as “one of the seven overseers of the plague and cataloger of all the plague lord’s innumerable diseases.” His path through the realms is unpredictable, for he goes wherever the trail of the plague takes him.” Charming.

He joins in with a new mechanic for sustenance in the real-time strategy game: the Tally of Pestilence system. This will be the bar that the General must continually meet in order for the Tallyman to receive his blessings from the Plague Lord. Therefore, dynamism is the key to keeping the inhabitants of the ancient world in a constant state of disease-ridden pandemonium.

Free Hero: Golden Wizard

The wizards of the Old World are unpredictable, but none are more focused on the crazy and dangerous practices of metallurgy than Charon’s Sorcerer Order.

These robed zealots enter the battlefield with the ability to reduce the effectiveness of armor, and like most wizard units in Total War, they are better at range or on the back of a sophisticated mount.

The Golden Wizard can unlock a Pegasus or the impressively armored Barbed Warhorse to add an element of volatility to his arsenal.

Free Campaign: The Nemesis Crown

The Nemesis Crown is a powerful arcane artifact forged by a master runesmith to house the Rune of Ages. It can be obtained from a general who plays the campaign and grabs a region where the crown is hidden.

Once the battle for the crown is won, players face a difficult decision. Do they destroy it or do they keep it and suffer the blessings and plagues that come with it?

Creative Assembly is preparing to release Thrones of Decay on April 30, marking the end of content for Warhammer Total War.

Three new legendary lords, Tamurkhan, Elspeth Von Draken and the enigmatic berserker mechanic Malakai Makaisson, will be playable for the paid DLC.
