Tiffany Haddish talks about how her past relationships have shaped her understanding of love and her connection to her body. During an appearance on Monday’s episode of Intentionally with Jay Shettj, The 44-year-old explained her reasons for celibacy.
When Shetty asks Haddish if becoming celibate was a conscious decision, she replies, “I just don’t want to associate with anyone, you know? I just feel like, damn, I’m the prize and these guys have to qualify.”
“When I think about my track record, who I am[‘ve laid] Once I’m done with it, it’ll take about a year to even warm up to it,” she adds. “It just feels.” I don’t know, I’ve been training a lot. So I feel like I’m taking out my sexual frustrations while working out. And then, as I said, gadgets.”
The GRAMMY winner explains that her past relationships have taught her to be more conscious about who she wants to share “a piece” of herself with romantically.
“When you’re hanging out with people who aren’t really as ambitious as you are, or aren’t comfortable in their own skin, or don’t have confidence, or just aren’t necessarily confident in themselves, that becomes a problem. And I think when you sleep with someone.” “You share your soul,” she says to Shetty. “You share a part of yourself, you give up a small part of yourself. And I don’t, I think I only have so much soul left and I don’t necessarily want to just hand it over to anyone.” You know? I don’t know if the soul grows, I don’t know if you can rejuvenate a new soul like skin or hair, but it just feels like… I don’t want to subject myself to that.”
Haddish mainly dated rappers and actors Togetherwho she first met while filming the 2019 film The kitchen. In April 2020, the two went on a virtual Bumble date during their quarantine the coronavirus pandemic, and sparks began to fly. A few months later, they were seen together at a Black Lives Matter demonstration. Haddish confirmed their relationship in August 2020.
The married couple confirmed their separation in November 2021 and said their breakup was due to a busy schedule and lack of opportunities to be together.
After the news of their separation, Common was a guest on an episode of Hollywood Unlocked with Jason Lee: Uncensored, where he claimed that he and Haddish had “agreed” to separate and “that the best thing for us is to continue to love each other and be there for each other means not being in a romantic relationship” because we can’t give in to that .
“I don’t want to have one foot in and one foot out,” he explained at the time.
In a profile for The Washington Post Last July, Haddish praised her relationship with the rapper and actor, calling it “the healthiest, most fun relationship I’ve ever had.”
Haddish, though revealed that their split was “not mutual.” and this Common – whose legal name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn – broke up with her over the phone.
“It wasn’t mutual,” she told the publication. “It’s more like he said, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.’ And I thought, “Okay. You’re going to be a 50-year-old single man?”
The Haunted house The actress explained that there were signs that her relationship with Common was coming to an end – particularly when she didn’t receive an invitation to accompany Common to former President Barack Obama’s birthday this year, and even more so when she attended Common’s own birthday didn’t celebrate. After that, Haddish said, Common ultimately ended things with her over the phone.
Common has since started a relationship with EGOT receiver Jennifer Hudson. The couple first sparked dating rumors in 2022, and that was the case spotted, holding handsand attended various excursions together, including basketball games.
In an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show End of January, The couple lovingly confirmed their relationship status while we rave about each other’s successes.
Speaking to Shetty, Haddish notes that there are many people she dated who she misses because of “the fun” they had together, and other exes she “probably shouldn’t have missed.”
She laments that the exes who “caused me a lot of physical pain, the ones who caused me emotional pain,” are the ones she would miss the most.
“I would submit to this man and be happy to be in his presence, but at the same time, when he’s not there, I’m going to be so hurt and have to take care of him,” she says, referring to a certain ex which is referenced in her memoirs. “And breaking away from that would be like, ‘Okay, what else do you love? What else are you interested in? Put your energy into something else.’”
Haddish says she has new criteria for men she wants to date, stressing that he must be “physically healthy and fit” and “know how to run something.”

Haddish opened up about her life after overcoming hurdles on the road to fame.
She was brought to trial in November Driving under the influence of alcohol for the second time in two years.
Beverly Hills police told ET that the comedian was cited by law enforcement officers on November 24, 2023, after witnesses allegedly observed her pulling over in the middle of Beverly Drive, apparently asleep and with the car still running.
Police officers responded to a call and upon arrival at the scene arrested her for driving under the influence. TMZ was the first to spread the news and describe the incident in detail. Haddish was released several hours after her arrest.

That was when she was arrested in Atlanta after officers responded to a report that someone was asleep behind the wheel. Haddish was charged with drunken driving and improper stopping on a highway and was eventually released after posting $1,666 bail.
Shortly after her arrest The Girls trip star told ET She had spent a long Thanksgiving day that began with feeding underprivileged people at the Laugh Factory. Haddish delivered a special holiday set at the venue’s 43rd annual free festival for locals.
“I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries,” she noted.
Haddish also said she was in good spirits after the arrest and praised the Beverly Hills Police Department for their professionalism and handling of the situation.
Haddish ultimately did not object to a reduced fee. The Los Angeles Times reported. She was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to complete a driver’s education program, the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Victim Impact Program, LA County’s Hospital and Morgue Program and 40 hours of community service. She also had to pay fines and fees.
