Tiffany Haddish Explains Why She Chose Celibacy

Tiffany Haddish talks about how her past relationships have shaped her understanding of love and her connection to her body. During an appearance on Monday’s episode of Intentionally with Jay Shettj, The 44-year-old explained her reasons for celibacy.

When Shetty asks Haddish if becoming celibate was a conscious decision, she replies, “I just don’t want to associate with anyone, you know? I just feel like, damn, I’m the prize and these guys have to qualify.”

“When I think about my track record, who I am[‘ve laid] Once I’m done with it, it’ll take about a year to even warm up to it,” she adds. “It just feels.” I don’t know, I’ve been training a lot. So I feel like I’m taking out my sexual frustrations while working out. And then, as I said, gadgets.”

The GRAMMY winner explains that her past relationships have taught her to be more conscious about who she wants to share “a piece” of herself with romantically.

The married couple confirmed their separation in November 2021 and said their breakup was due to a busy schedule and lack of opportunities to be together.

After the news of their separation, Common was a guest on an episode of Hollywood Unlocked with Jason Lee: Uncensored, where he claimed that he and Haddish had “agreed” to separate and “that the best thing for us is to continue to love each other and be there for each other means not being in a romantic relationship” because we can’t give in to that .

She laments that the exes who “caused me a lot of physical pain, the ones who caused me emotional pain,” are the ones she would miss the most.

“I would submit to this man and be happy to be in his presence, but at the same time, when he’s not there, I’m going to be so hurt and have to take care of him,” she says, referring to a certain ex which is referenced in her memoirs. “And breaking away from that would be like, ‘Okay, what else do you love? What else are you interested in? Put your energy into something else.’”

Haddish says she has new criteria for men she wants to date, stressing that he must be “physically healthy and fit” and “know how to run something.”

Haddish opened up about her life after overcoming hurdles on the road to fame.

She was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to complete a driver’s education program, the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Victim Impact Program, LA County’s Hospital and Morgue Program and 40 hours of community service. She also had to pay fines and fees.
