This is What You Get with the 2025 Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter Trim

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is an all-new SUV, which means it’s also ripe for Toyota to try new things like Trailhunter trim. Now we’ve seen the name Trailhunter before, namely in use on the newly redesigned Tacoma. The purpose of the pickup is similar to that of the 4Runner, but let’s take a quick look at everything you get on the new Trailhunter.

First, think of it as a sister trim to the TRD Pro, sitting right at the top of the trim structure in terms of both features and (of course) price. It comes standard with the top powertrain option, the i-Force Max hybrid, which consists of a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. Output is 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. As you’d expect, it’s equipped with all-wheel drive and, like the TRD models, has an electronic rear differential lock as standard.

Beyond these similarities, the Trailhunter begins to delve into his own proposal. Toyota says it’s the ideal package for Overlanders, and we have to agree. It comes straight from the factory with a host of parts that Toyota has collaborated on with popular off-road component manufacturers. Forged Old Man Emu 2.5-inch shocks (with rear remote reservoirs) are installed, which Toyota says are better suited to heavy loads than the TRD Pro’s Fox shocks. 33-inch Toyo Open Country All-Terrain tires wrap the unique bronze wheels and, combined with the suspension, increase the ride height by 2 inches at the front and 1.5 inches at the rear. Toyota includes a high-mount, low-profile air intake to ensure the air drawn into the engine is sucked in above all the dust you and your friends kick up on the trail.

Protection from said path is also increased for the Trailhunter, as Toyota installs stone protection rails and additional underrun protection plates made of high-strength steel underneath. You also get some mega lighting solutions as a 20-inch LED light bar is integrated into the grille and fixed LED fog lights are mounted in the bumper. An ARB roof rack is standard if the large loading area is not enough. And for campsite amenities, the Trailhunter is equipped with a 2,400-watt AC inverter with outlets in both the cabin and rear cargo area. And if you want more accessories – which Toyota assumes you will – the company says there are three auxiliary switches pre-wired throughout the vehicle.

The Trailhunter’s appearance speaks for itself as it is shown with bronze accents, lots of Trailhunter badges and a sweet color combination. The blue-green exterior color shown here is called Everest and the gray-green interior color is called Mineral. The golden yellow accents provide a great contrast and the unusual trim materials that Toyota uses give the interior even more character. And since the Trailhunter will be priced at the top of the trim line, it will of course have the top features (larger touchscreen, etc.) and most of the luxury that Toyota has to offer in the new 4Runner.
