The Era of the City Girls Over? Social Media is Reacting as Yung Miami and JT Continue to Promote Their Solo Music

To be clear: The City girl have pushed solo music and pushed each other to the limit in public. But The Miami And JT STILL have to clarify what their apparent investments in their solo careers mean for the group.

Is the era of the city girls over? A dead end? A closed, successful chapter in female rap history?

Read on to find out why fans seem to think so.

JT has a solo album OTW

Jatavia has been clearing the way for her solo project for a hot minute now! She released her single “Okay” on Friday (April 26). The track marks her third solo release, not including her ongoing list of solo performances with Nicki Minaj and Summer Walker, to name a few.

Check out a preview of the new track below.

She first teased “Okay” on April 16, about a week after she and Yung Miami argued online for a few hours before finally expressing mutual “love.”

Their verbal disagreement temporarily concerned X (formerly Twitter) and female rap fans. Even Plies got involved as the former best friends insulted each other and made accusations of jealousy and dissension.

Jatavia warned people in advance last October that the strong solo marketing you’re seeing now was coming! She spoke to Interview Magazine at the time about the release of her first solo project, now known as City Cinderella. She even nicknamed her individual fan base “Juvies.” And on the rapper’s first solo tour, which began in March and ends in May, they show up and fill the halls.

Earlier this week, she shared a preview of one of her crowded shows. Her caption read: “Bet on yourself! Thank you God! The beginning of greatness.”

Yung Miami says she wants to “choke people” with her new music.

Meanwhile, Yung Miami made a difficult move from criticizing fans for calling her Caresha to branding her. She’s released playful, raunchy singles like “Rap Freaks” and “50/50 Freestyle.”

She was a podcaster on Caresha Please. And she’s even reached into her marketing bag by selling card games and solo merch while launching her new “YAMS” era. A reality TV show is also reportedly in the works.

Ahead of the release of JT’s “Okay,” she spoke about her own musical ambitions.

“I can’t wait for you all to hear my intro!!! Because finally stop playing with me! TF,” Miami wrote on X.

When a fan asked for a snippet, she declined and wrote: “No, I want to choke you all.”

Most recently, she released the song “CFWM,” inspiring a social media challenge from fans who showed off her natural and makeup BEAT picture cards!
