Award-winning actress Taraji P Henson Maybe she can add a top life coach to her already impressive resume.
Henson, 53, attended the TIME100 gala in New York City on Thursday, April 25, to celebrate being named one of the outlet’s Most Influential People of the Year. When asked about her path to success, she answered: Hidden figures Star praised an important quality.
“My strength lies in my vulnerability. I lean into it because that’s where the strength lies,” she said exclusively Us weekly. “To fix or change something, you have to be vulnerable. This is what you have to do, and it takes courage. That’s brave. Be vulnerable and try to be strong. People do that every day.”
Henson added that there is power in letting people see you cry, noting, “It’s human.”

“What I love most [Taraji] is that she is unapologetically herself,” wrote Blige, 53. “Taraji is a real woman – she doesn’t bite her tongue and she’s not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She’s always true and authentic, and she’s just as fearless on screen, which is why she’s one of my favorite actresses.”
She added: “Even though she doesn’t need any advice, I say this to my beautiful friend: Taraji, my sister, be yourself and keep doing what you are doing. “There is no one like you. I love you.”
Henson, who arrived at the TIME100 ceremony in an emerald green Thom Browne ensemble, had a lot to celebrate on the red carpet. In addition to the outlet’s prestigious award, she is also preparing to release her first children’s book. You can be a good friend (no matter what happens!)which hits shelves June 18th. Set on the first day of school, Henson tells the story of Lil TJ, a young girl who is bullied relentlessly for being different from her peers.
The protagonist was born from a personal place. “Little TJ is the little girl in me that I’m still letting thrive,” Henson said Us on Thursday. “What I love about her is that when she encounters obstacles in life, she always sees that the glass is half full. It’s so easy to see it as half empty, right? That’s why I try to teach these babies from a young age that they are half full. And it is your choice to do so.”
She added: “You can choose joy at any time.”
Looking back on her Hollywood career, Henson feels “honored” and “grateful” to have been given a platform. “When my fame started to rise, I didn’t want to fumble the ball because I knew it was a blessing to be in this position,” he said Rich Alum told Us. “I made a pact with God and thought, ‘I’m going to share this gift with the world, but not just on screen.’ But because you have blessed me so much, I want to go out and try to bless others.’ That’s what I’m trying to do because this thing is bigger than me.”
