However, her untimely death in Dubai left a huge void in the lives of her family, friends and fans. I am talking about the legacy she left behind after her untimely death, which is kept intact by her husband Boney Kapoor and her daughters Jahnvi and Khushi.
Airbnb lists the first house Sridevi bought for its visitors
One of them was Sridevi’s first home in Chennai, where she and Boney Kapoor’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi had spent their childhood. No doubt, we can imagine how beautifully Sridevi decorated the house for her family and how curious her fans were always to get a first look inside. Now we have come to know an amazing news: One of the extremely popular rental and accommodation apps, Airbnb, has included Sridevi’s house in Chennai in its new ‘Icons’ list. According to a report from People, this means anyone can now live in the beautifully decorated villa. Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of Airbnb, said at the launch of Icons:
“This is the most intimate access to the most famous family in Bollywood.”

The same report states that a one-day stay with Sridevi will also allow for conversations with Janhvi about her favorite beauty hacks and tasting fresh, authentic South Indian food. Aside from the only Indian property rented by Airbnb, other pop culture locations that also feature on the list of 11 Icons properties include the X-Men mansion in New York’s Westchester County and Disney-Pixar’s Up (2009) in Abiquiu, New Mexico, Kevin Hart’s members-only Coramino Live Lounge, a personal Doja Cat concert, Prince’s legendary Purple Rain home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Inside Out headquarters.
A sneak peek into Sridevi’s first purchased villa in Chennai
In 2022, Janhvi Kapoor, in a conversation with Vogue India, gave a virtual tour of Sridevi’s mansion in Chennai. In the virtual tour, we were able to take a look at the huge gate that opens onto a lush green veranda. Subsequently, while speaking to Vogue, Janhvi mentioned that the main entrance of her house in Chennai was somewhere else as Sridevi believed in ‘Vastu’. She then led us through a glass door into a corridor with a variety of works of art. The house also features some amazing European chandeliers.

The mansion, with its old world charm, housed Boney Kapoor’s small office at the time. Then came the living room, which had a beautiful L-shaped sofa, a huge Buddha artifact, huge ceramic vases and much more. In another room there is a huge beige couch, which is also Janhvi’s favorite place. It houses eye-catching candle holders on Chester drawers. We then discovered a huge dining table for eight with beautiful tableware and a huge staircase with a wall of memorabilia.
