T20 World Cup 2024: Aakash Chopra Called for Rohit Sharma’s World Cup Exit? Ex-India Cricketer Drops Big Comment

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra criticized the fake post in which he claimed that he wanted BCCI to drop Rohit Sharma from the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He explained that fan armies only care about views and for them views are more important.

India recently named their squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma will lead the team and it will be a great opportunity for him to lead the team to glory and end the fans’ heartache after a disappointing defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma seemed to be in good form in the ongoing IPL 2024. He started the tournament quite well and also collected a century. However, since the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup was named, the batsman has failed to set the stage on fire and has made an early exit.

With Rohit Sharma scoring low in his last innings, the post went viral on social media. The post said Aakash Chopra said that India’s captain should not have been selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup because he did not score runs in the powerplay.

“Aakash Chopra said Rohit Sharma should not have been picked for the T20 World Cup. He even fails on the power play now.” a post claimed on X.

However, in response, Aakash Chopra lashed out at the fan armies and stated that IPL is the best time to spread hate. While calling this nonsense, he stated:

“IPL is the best time to spread hate, fake news and all sorts of nonsense.” Armies of fans are always there to lick it. I often wonder if views/commitment are more important than morals,” Aakash Chopra posted on Twitter.

When the T20 World Cup happened, we missed a lot of T20Is – Rohit Sharma on missed T20Is

Rohit Sharma, who missed all the T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup, said they discussed with coaches that they wanted to focus on each format. He pointed out how they prioritized ODIs during the 2023 ICC World Cup. He explained:

“When the T20 World Cup happened, we missed a lot of T20Is. Test cricket is a format that should not be missed and should be given priority. We also discussed this with the players and coaches.”

“Ajit came later. He doesn’t know what was discussed. Whatever format takes place, we will give priority to that format. With the 50-over World Cup happening, we missed a lot of T20Is.” he concluded.

India will face Ireland in the first match of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The game takes place on June 5th and they want to start at the top.
