Survivor’s Returning Player Season Won’t Be Limited to New Era

Jeff Probst doesn’t want to limit his options if the Survivors The team is considering who to reclaim for a returning player’s season.

“If we ever had a season with returning players, I don’t think anyone is out,” Probst, 62, said exclusively Us weekly on Saturday, April 27, at the Survivor Q&A event at the Ovation Hollywood complex in Los Angeles. “We don’t really see the new era as the only place we would select players from.”

The longtime host shared that the reality series will feature new players “for now,” specifically for seasons 47 through 49.

“We’re focused on new players because, as this season shows, we still believe there’s a lot of interesting game to explore for someone who’s never played before,” Probst said Us. “And then, when the time is right, there will certainly be another season for returning players.”

Probst explained this shortly after the interview Survivor 50 would be the perfect time to bring some familiar faces back into the game. During the panel discussion, Probst asked the audience filled with diehards Survivors Fans if they should continue with the mindset of bringing new players into the game for the milestone season. The crowd roared, “No!” When Probst asked the fans if they wanted to see former players compete against each other again, the group cheered enthusiastically.

“In the spirit of putting the game in the hands of the fans sometimes, I feel like – and there are a few people at CBS right now who are like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going on?’ – I think we should just commit and make this the moment we decide Survivor 50 “We will be returning players,” Probst told the audience. “I don’t know what’s going to happen after that, but I’m pretty sure we’re committed to it.”

Later that evening, Probst took to social media to announce the decision to the world.

“About 10 seconds ago we just decided that we would like to thank all the fans who attended the FYC event here in Hollywood Survivor 50 “We will be returning players,” he said in an Instagram video on Saturday.

Survivor 50 Filming will not begin until May 2025 and will premiere the following year. A topic has not yet been announced.
